Hank and the Nelson Family,
I was sadden to read about the death of your dear father and husband.
I just wanted to say, how nice and quiet he seemed always to be.He never gave my brother Scott or I any trouble or loud words, though we deserved them at times. He always had that joyous sincere smile. As long as we did not eat his special hors-d'oeurves, he enjoyed, the pretzel sticks, ginger snap cookies, his root beer,(Dad's ?) homemade root beer popsicles, Valveeta cheese, and his favorite, the V-8 juice. As long as we left his treats alone, he was fine, Hank really had to keep an eye on us, because, those treats were so good.
He always welcomed Hank's friends over to play and seemed to have a peaceful attitude, about everything. We seemed to know what times were the best for visiting.
I always respected his daily mile walk to the Golf train station, twice daily. I would continue to see him walking through out the years, when I moved back to Glenview, in the 1990's.
He was a very generous man, to allow Hank to bring, my brother & I swimming, as a guest, at the Glenview Club. That generosity meant so much to us, as a young kids.
Though, I did not know Mr Nelson well,(what kids knows their friends parents)? he treated everyone properly and I always respected him for that special trait, some people possess, sharing kindness to others...
I just wanted to share some of my thoughts, and memories of our memorable childhood, you were all so nice and special.
Stay strong, our prayers and thoughts are with you always,
Kurt, Dean and Mom
