I have left a light for you...to help light your way through this time. My daughter Lauren found in your husband and dad, as well as each of you, a great family of dear friends. She spoke of Mr. Hurley with great warmth and enjoyed his humor and saw his great strength. May his light live in your hearts forever and give you peace and strength to continue your own journeys.

I am so sad t ohear of his passing. As a high school friend of Jackie, I remember going over there and thinking her dad was so funny and how lucky she was to have him! :) I wish I would have known sooner, I would have made it to the funeral or wake. Stay strong, and know that he is looking down on all of you and missing you just as much as you miss him.

We were shocked and SO saddened to hear of Jack's passing. His struggle is over. He is free from the tether of an oxygen line. We will always hold the memory of him sitting on his pontoon boat with his family and us all sharing strawberry margaritas early this summer. We have lost our chance forever to get to know him better, but what we saw was a devoted husband and a father who adored his children, and spoke softly
'but carried a big stick'. Sandy Pines has lost another of its finest. Our prayers are now for the family and we will continue to pray for you.

Dear Hurley Family ,
This neighborhood has lost one of it's "finest". I am deeply sorry for your loss. One of my favorite Jack stories ended with the punch line "carry on men"...and that's what we will do with his memory in our hearts.

Prayers are often the only thing one can offer in times like these. Comfort and assistance are extended but with some uncertainty, for no one can really grasp the depth of loss being endured by the bereaved. Mary Beth and I hold Jack up in our prayers knowing he is at peace with GOD. We do this as much for ourselves as a reminder of this eternal truth and also with the hope in so doing it will in a way directly ease some of the sadness and loss for you Eileen, and for your children.

Eileen and Family,

Jack was such a dear, NICE man. He gave me my first pontoon boat lesson, was there to help if I needed a power drill and was just a dear friend here at Sandy Pines. I will miss watching him go by on the boat wearing his captain's hat.

My prayers go out to you all. Jack leaves a big hole in a lot of lives.

My thoughts and prayer's are with his loving family. I have known Jack for many years. As one of the cast of "characters" at the old 5th District, he always played his part better than most. He was an excellent policeman and Detective, but most important a spendid father, which he enjoyed being more than anything. I would see Jack at 107th and Hale for coffee, and had seen him recently. I always enjoyed our banter. He was one of a kind, an original, John Wayne and Salvador Dali had nothing on Jack. Quick with a quip, ready to console, always a husband and father first. The last time we talked, it was mostly about his children, as usual. Don Petersen

To the Entire Hurley Family,
Jack was such a great guy. He was one of the funniest people you could ever want to meet and could tell a story and start you laughing any time you
re-thought about it. He loved all of you so much and would talk about you all with so much love and pride whenever I ran into him. He will be missed by all who knew him. May God Bless you and Jack and keep you in the palm of His hand.
