I'm honored that my son Antonio Kilgore will be receiving this scholarship. From reading about Mr. Mallonee he was a wonderful man. Loosing him from cancer touches home a bit for us. Thank you for shining down on my son with this scholarship. This award honor is for you Mr. Mallonee!

It has been 10 years since Ron passed away, and we still miss him in the metro Atlanta area. Many thanks to the family for supporting the scholarship in his name offered through the Georgia Lacrosse Officials Association. Ron remains in our memories and our hearts.

Uncle Ron was a great uncle, and I'm so lucky to have got to know him. He taught me to play pinochle, and every time I play with my family I'm reminded of him.
Miss you uncle,

As we approach the first anniversary of our friend Ron's passing, one can only stand back and look at the explosion of lacrosse in the southeast that Ron was a major part of and would be so proud.
When he came to ref games at the Hooch, he would pick up the two-way radio at the scorer's table and ask what music we were going to play that day. He loved classic rock.
Ron helped us all learn more about lacrosse and ourselves and we miss him.

What can I say, Ron was one of the greatest lacrosse referees that I have ever known. There were many games where he had to be all 3 refs at once and did a terrific job. He always called a fair game and for the most part, let us play, as a player what more could you ask for out of a referee. To me he was also a friend, we spent many hours on the phone (just ask my wife) about new ideas and building up the Life Team to try to compete with Buckhead and Southern Empire to balance out our league. I am grateful for those talks we had. As Bobby said, you don't know what you've had until it's gone. I just took it for granted that he would be around forever, and I was about to contact him to find out about the peachstate when I came across his memorial page, what a shock!
Thanks Ron for all of the great times we had on and off the field. You were a rare individual in that you seemed to get along with everyone at all times and could mediate any situation, I guess that's what made you such a great ref, besides your tremendous love for the game. I will miss you very much and will always think of you when I play/coach/watch the sport of lacrosse. You were a great man to me, and I am fortunate to have known you as well as I did. I think I am a better person because of you, thank you Ron.

I would like to thank the family for coming to Atlanta's memorial service to share with us in the south the memory of Ron. We all thank you for sharing Ron with us in this life and look foward to the day to do a 3 man game with him beyond this life. He will always be with us around the lacrosse field. GOD BLESS YOU ALL

Ron was not only a great source of information and passion for my career as a Lacrosse official, he was a true friend. We would spend hours working together talking about life, relationships, and yes lots and lots of Lacrosse. Ron was the type of person who made you feel good about yourself, and inspired and challenged you to be your best. Not a day will go by without me thinking about him, when I step onto a field. I will miss him but, I will never forget him. Sincerely, Mark O'Neil

I was shocked and saddened to hear about Ron's passing. He took me from a "pup" referee to a confident lacrosse official. He was a great friend and one of the best guys I've ever known. The lacrosse community has lost a true treasure.

I had the pleasure of doing four games with Ron this year and will always be grateful for his kind manner and helpful attitude. You could tell he was in his element reffing lacrosse games, and he enjoyed teaching new refs, like myself, the finer points of reffing the game. I beleive I did Ron's last game with him, Darlington vs HIES, in Darlington. I will always remember the long ride and the great company and will always try to emulate Ron's manner on the field and in life. God Bless friend, we all look forward to seeing you at the "Big Game in the Sky".

To the Mallonee Family,
My prayers are with you during this difficult time. I hope you are comforted in knowing how positive an influence Ron was to me and so many other Zebras. From his passion for lacrosse to his willingness to help officials develop the style and techniques that made Ron such a sought-after official, we are all the better for knowing Ron. He has raised the bar for all of us in the Southeast; I know we will continue the pursuit of better our officiating in his memory.
Thank you for developing and sharing such a wonderful, cheerful, caring and passionate person.

To the entire Mallonee family,
My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.
Ron was always willing to share his experiences and knowledge as he helped train new officials. He was always willing to travel whereever, whenever to officiate college games. No questions asked. And he did it all with a large, honest smile on his face.
He was a good friend for many of us in the Georgia lacrosse community. He will be missed.

I met Ron through lacrosse in Florida in the late 80s and worked with him most years since then. He truly loved being involved in the sport. After games, there was usually a cold drink and many stories - boy, did he love to talk! I can say that he didn't have a mean bone in his body and I'll miss him but be grateful for having known him.

Ben and Laura:
I wanted you to know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. I had the pleasure of meeting Ron in January 2000 when I bought a home and decided to do a little renovation. He told me he would be finished inside of three months. The project took on a life of its own and nine months later Ron, Todd (his assistant) and I completed the job. Needless to say he did a great job. Ron was the first person I saw every morning during that time and we became great friends. He was was a man of integrity and master of his trade. I am honored to have known him and I will miss him.

Ron's sense of fairness and equity on the field was widely recognized and set him apart as one of the best officials around. For me it was almost expected to see Ron at any and every club game in his Zebra shirt telling us to hurry up. Indoor, outdoor, Peach state, summer league....Ron was always there with a firm yet friendly hand to keep a bunch of weekend warriors from hurting themselves even more. I can tell you from working with him off the field he lived his life the same way. He had Grace, balance and compasion. The world has truly lost a genuine, honest and benevolent soul.

Ron-
To say you are going to be missed is a great understatement!
The game of lacrosse and it's community are only better by having you involved.
I'm going to miss having hour long phone calls about the men's league. It will be strange going on the field next time and not having you call our game.
I think it's safe to say we will all miss your smile!
God bless you and your family!

We worked closely with Ron when he built our deck. He was a pleasure to work with. We didn't hesitate to recommend him and were trying to save our money so we could hire him for another project. He was fun to be around and he was such a nice guy. We are sad to hear of his death.

Ron, thank you for everything you've done. We go through life sometimes not realizing how much someone does for us, until they are gone. I know I’m speaking for all club lacrosse players when I say, I do not think our lives would have been the same if Ron did not keep us playing. He is responsible for so many friendships we have today…and will have forever.

Ron -
Not seeing you on the field is going to take some getting used to, and as Jon said, everytime we start a game, players, coaches, and referees are going to think of you.
I'd like to thank you for everything you've done for the sport, and also for putting up with me all these years. Your enthusiasm fueled my love for this game, as I'm sure it did for many other people in the South, and Lacrosse's growth and success down here is testament to what an incredible man you are.

To the Mallonee Family,
My deepest sympathies to you all as you struggle with this difficult time.
Ron has meant so much to my family and me and he will be missed a great deal.
Ron was my friend, confidant, mentor and all around great guy. He was one of the best officials in our state and helped grow the game of Lacrosse in such a positive manner.
He always had a smile on his face and was always trying to help others.
They only unkind thing I can say about the Man was when he spend 4 months remodeling our home and we had to listen to the sound track of “The Music Man” for eight hours a day.
God Bless you Ron and Thanks for Everything, I will miss you

After 5 years out of the game, I got back this year and it was such a pleasure to be with Ron and be able to disucss how the sport has grown and how desperate the state is for officials. Ron's rules knowledge and mechanics knowledge for officiating was a tremendous help to all our new officials.
Just a nice man!
