Helen L. Aiken

Aiken, Helen L. (nee Beard) Age 92, a resident of Naperville, IL since 1970, formerly of Galveston, TX and Flossmoor, IL, died Monday, April 28, 2014 at Seasons Hospice Home in Naperville. She was born December 10, 1921 in Hearne, TX. Beloved wife of the late Robert L. Aiken Sr., whom she married June 24, 1942 and who preceded her in death May 26, 2008; loving mother of Thomas (Cynthia) Aiken of Basking Ridge, NJ and the late Robert L. (Patricia) Aiken Jr.; adored grandmother of Robert III (Shalimar) Aiken and Brian (Tiffany) Aiken, Nathaniel and Benjamin Aiken; cherished great-grandmother of Star Aiken; devoted daughter of the late William and Rachel Beard; dear sister of the late W.A. (the late Betsy) Beard, the late Thomas "Jack" Beard, who was killed in action during World War II. Helen and her family were long time residents of Naperville, having relocated here from Flossmoor, IL in 1970. In addition to having a successful real estate career of more than 15 years, Helen was a devoted community volunteer. She served on Naperville's Sesquicentennial Board and Ball committee, and the committee for creation of the Heartland Harvest mosaic at the corner of Jefferson and Main Streets. Helen's Texas heritage instilled in her a gracious, warm and caring manner. She will be dearly missed by friends and family. Visitation Tuesday, May 13, 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. at Knox Presbyterian Church, 1105 Catalpa Lane, Naperville. Funeral Services Tuesday, 11:00 a.m. in the church with Rev. Clinton Roberts and Rev.
