Bonnie added so much to the High School english experience for me. I have to admit that I understood very little about poetry until she came to our school. I loved watching her children come up through the grade school, and totally enjoyed having her amazing daughter Emily in my group at CC Camp, long long ago. Wishing the family my condolences.

Im so so very sorry to hear this terrible news. Bonnie was an amazing colleague, a friend and we hung out together occasionally with our spouses in Oak Park. A consummate hostess, we have enjoyed many delicious home cooked meals in their home. It was Bonnie who taught me how to do a perfect pie crust, inviting us into her home and leading us through the arduous process of making piecrust from scratch. My heart goes out to the family members and Don. Rest in Peace Bonnie! To a life lived oh so well - a consummate woman. You are very loved by all who know you.

Sincerely, Yasmin Ranney

It was with great sadness that I heard of Bonnie Chauncey's passing. Mrs. Chauncey was my English teacher at Green Meadow School in the 1980's, and was one of my favorite teachers of all time. I can still recall a conversation we had when as a struggling ninth grader she told me that she had read one of my essays aloud to her husband at home and he commented that I had the potential to some day be a professional writer. While I have not chosen that professional path, I use Mrs. Chauncey's writing and thinking guidance on a daily basis in my profession as an educator. She was a consistently kind, generous and calming presence during my formative years, and a great friend to my family. Bonnie, you will be so missed by all who had the privilege to cross paths with you on this journey. My sincerest thoughts and condolences go out to your family in this difficult time.
