Doris H. Scherer, nee Hoffmeier, 84, of Arlington Heights, beloved wife of the late Reverend Dr. Ross P. Scherer; loving mother of Rebecca Koppel, Dr. Thomas (Silvia) and Mary (Meinrad) Scherer-Edmunds; cherished grandmother of Jen, Justin, David, Stefan, Liz, Daniel, Carnia and Erik; great-grandmother to Amber, Amanda and Mitchell; fond sister of Delmar (Mary) Hoffmeier. Funeral service 11 a.m., Wednesday, at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, 1234 N. Arlington Heights Rd., Arlington Heights. Visitation Tuesday, from 3 to 9 p.m., at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Rd., Arlington Heights, and at church from 10 a.m., until time of service on Wednesday. Interment at Memory Gardens, Arlington Heights. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Our Saviour's Lutheran Church or Lutheran Home and Services, 800 W. To all of Doris' children - Your mother was a real trooper! She suffered so many serious falls,broken bones, therapy,etc. plus health issues but always seemed so happy to be alive and involved. She was an amazing person. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Love, (cousin) Nancy Evans Christensen

May there be peace in the family of Doris in this time of sorrow. Nona and I knew Doris through our involvement in activities at Our Saviour's Church in Arlington Heights. She also became a neighbor to us when she moved into Luther Village. She will be missed. Regards, Cal & Nona Claus
