ELEANOR ZAGULA Obituary

Eleanor J. Zagula, 87, died peacefully on October 18, 2010 at El Cerrito Royale Living Center in El Cerrito, CA. Eleanor was a 30 year resident of Downers Grove and 10 year resident of Hinsdale. An energetic, engaged wife, mother, grandmother, political supporter and community volunteer, Eleanor was born in Wierton, WV in 1923 to the late Anthony and Anna Trusela. She graduated secretarial school in Pittsburg and was executive assistant to the CEO of Wierton Steel and other companies. After years as a dedicated homemaker, Eleanor returned to school and received her degree in library science. She went on to serve over 30 years as a librarian at the Lisle and Downers Grove Public Libraries as well as with Amoco and the Morton Arboretum. She was a Girl Scout Troop Leader and an active volunteer at the Art Institute of Chicago and the Hinsdale Wellness House. Eleanor is predeceased by her husband, Ted Zagula; she is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Linda Zagula and Tom Stifler of Berkeley, CA; daughter Loraine Zagula of Tucson, AZ; son and daughter-in-law John and Terri Zagula of Seattle, WA; and by two grandchildren, Samuel and Louis. Eleanor was an independent person, a progressive thinker and compassionate to all. Services will be privately held.
