Elizabeth Bowman Obituary

Name: Service for Elizabeth Bowman
Location: St. James the Less

Elizabeth Porter Bowman, 78, of Northbrook, Illinois died peacefully January 9, 2016, surrounded by her children. Betsy was an elementary school teacher and later a tutor, but her passion and focus was being a dedicated and involved mother and grandmother. She was a woman of loyalty, integrity, opinion, curiosity and intelligence. A lifelong fan of the Cubs, Blackhawks and Bears (except Jay Cutler). Betsy was preceded in death by her parents, Betty and Bob Porter (aka Magi and Hoho) and is survived by daughter Susan Flom (Craig) of Edina, MN, sons Bill (Cathy) of Darien, CT and Peter (Laura) of Mill Valley, CA and adored grandchildren Emily, Ben, Peter, Porter, Eliza, Lily and Chloe, and beloved siblings Ty (Lee), Pam (Bill), and Bill. A service is planned for June 18th at St. James the Less in Northfield. Please make a contribution to your favorite charity in her memory. One of her favorites was Minnesota Special Olympics, in which grandson Peter competes (100 Washington Ave. South, Minneapolis, MN 55401).

Susan, Biill and Peter -

So sorry for your loss. I just found out through a trending news article about how much a fan disliked Jay Cutler, believe it or not! I'm sure your mother was not alone in her distaste for him.

I now live in Northbrook with my family and we had the opportunity to see your mom a few times when Joan Bose came to town to visit all of us. She was really knowledgeable about Northbrook, and we appreciated her insights.

At any rate, I'm thinking of you all and will be at the service in June.
