JONATHAN RICHARD KARL TVEDT

JONATHAN TVEDT Obituary

Jonathan Richard Karl Tvedt, 27, of Seattle, WA passed away unexpectedly, into the presence of the Lord, Sunday, June 5, 2011, in Evanston, IL. He was born April 20, 1984 in Tacoma, WA, the beloved son of Rune and Nancy Tvedt; and cherished brother of Jason and Jennifer Tvedt. Jon was a 2002 summa cum laude graduate of Bellarmine Preparatory School in Tacoma, WA and a 2006 magna cum laude graduate with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Finance and Accounting from The University of Pennsylvania, Wharton School of Business. He had most recently completed his first year of Business School at Northwestern University's Kellogg Graduate School of Management in Evanston, IL. Jon was driven and passionate about broadening his knowledge in the financial industry. He received his Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation while working as a financial analyst for Dodge and Cox Funds in San Francisco. He was chosen for a highly selective internship at Thornburg Investment Management in Santa Fe, New Mexico, which was to begin this month. He was also selected to participate in a study abroad program in Hong Kong beginning January 2012. He was currently the co-president of the Investment Management Club at Kellogg, in addition to numerous other extra-curricular activities. Jon was an avid traveler, reader and historian, who loved to explore the world and visit new places. He most recently returned from Southeast Asia, where he was a student leader of the Global Initiatives in Management (GIM) group for Kellogg. Jon was passionate about outdoor activities including skiing, boating, and running. He had plans to climb Mount Rainier in Washington this coming September. No matter how far he traveled or where he was, his heart was always at home in Seattle. Jon loved his family and made it a priority to visit them as often as possible. Jonathan was loved by all who knew him. He is lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his parents Rune and Nancy (Verbic) Tvedt, along with his brother Jason and his sister Jenny. He is survived by his paternal grandparents, Karl and Malfried Tvedt of Tacoma, WA and his maternal grandmother, Gloria Verbic of Elgin, IL; along with many, many dear relatives and friends. A Funeral Service in Memory of Jonathan will be held on Wednesday, June 8, at 3 p.m. at the Alice Millar Chapel on the campus of Northwestern University. Dear Tvedt Family,
I just heard the very sad news. I went to Bellarmine with Jon and last saw him briefly in college. He was a great classmate with a great sense of humor, impressive intelligence, and most importantly, a kind heart. I want to express my deep sympathy and let you know that you are in my prayers.

Dear Rune, Nancy, Jason and Jenny,

We are so very sad to hear of the loss of your precious son/brother Jonathan. We feel so blessed to have known Jon back when all of our children were at St. Vincent de Paul School. What an amazing young man he was, intelligent, friendly, and was always so very polite, always a smile on his face, who accomplished so much in his short time here on earth. Your family is in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time you all are going through, may God give all of you the strength to live each day to your fullest. Jon will truly be missed however never forgotten.
Hugs and Prayers to all of you!

Dear Nancy, Rune, Jason and Jenny,

I am so sorry to hear, and cannot imagine your sorrow, over the loss of your beloved son/brother, Jon. Jon was such an exceptionally intelligent and talented young man; a bright light in this world, taken from us too soon. I remember fondly gettting to know Jon back in the St. Vincent days. His smile, his kind and gentle ways, his wonderful sense of humor. There was always laughter with the Jon-Lauren-Jason-Anna foursome. I admired the bond Jon, Jason and Jenny had and the obvious love for one another. May God be with you during this difficult time and give you strength. Please know you all are in our thoughts and prayers and we will always hold Jon in our hearts.

I went to school with Jon at St. Vincents, he was a GREAT person then, and I'm certain still was. There are no words that will ease the pain at this time, but know that all of us are thinking and praying for your family. Keep your heads up and know he is now with the Lord. Stay strong for each other. -Nate Tyo

I was stunned to hear from Rune that Jon had died. My heart and prayers go out to Rune, Nancy and all of the family during this sad time. I remember Jon at Hartstene Pointe with his brother and sister, as my home is next door.

I was absolutely numb when I heard the news of Jon's passing. My first thoughts went out to all of you. How difficult this must have been for all of you to hear this news.
I prayed to God to give you all strength and find peace in this difficult time.
I called Mark and he was very quiet. I told him about Jon. He said that Jon was the nicest guy and so pleasant to be around. He was so smart and kind to all he met. Everyone liked him!
A few weeks ago when Jon was home, I saw him at Ballys on the treadmill. I waved at him. He smiled that cute smile. I will never forget him!
Jon, will never be forgotten.
With our deepest sympathy,
