Wilson Askew Jaicks Jr.

On Sunday, June 23, 2013 in San Francisco, CA our father, brother, friend and neighbor Wilson Askew Jaicks, Jr. "Woody" passed on to another world. Woody was born and raised in Lake Forest, IL to Ruth Agar, a WWI Red Cross nurse and Wilson A. Jaicks, Sr. a WWI veteran. He had two younger brothers, Agar Jaicks of San Francisco, David Prieur Jaicks (deceased) and younger sister Nancy Jaicks Alexander of Berkeley, CA. He loved sports, attended the Winter Club in Lake Forest, was educated at the Salisbury and Hotchkiss Schools in CT. He attended Yale and Northwestern, but left early to join the war effort as a U.S. Navy bomber pilot flying off carriers during WWII. Later he earned an MBA from the University of Chicago on the G.I. Bill. His business career was with Bradner Central of Elk Grove Village, IL. where he became Executive Vice President. Woody was twice a widower. His first wife of 36 years was Mary Constance Bull. They had two sons, Wilson A. Jaicks, III "Bill" and David Agar Jaicks. His second wife of sixteen years was Barbara Tennant Reidy. His hobbies were tennis and golf. He loved dogs. He had a fine baritone voice and sang in the Northfield Community Church choir in Northfield, IL in his later years. He faced much adversity beginning with his mother's death when he was five. He lived his life with courage. He was generous to all and was loved by all who knew him either as father, brother, uncle, friend or neighbor. At the end he had the good fortune to be with his brother Agar, his sister Nancy, his neice Lisa Jaicks and his beloved caregivers Carl Ambay and Mary Ann Ponferrrada. A memorial gathering will be held on Thursday, August 22, 2013, at 4p.m. at the Northfield Community Church. Donations in his memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association of America, and/or The Devereux Whitlock Center of Berwyn, PA.
