Shepard S. Doniger, of Lincolnwood and North Miami, FL, passed away on Sept. 15, 2008, at the age of 94. For over 30 years, he was a successful and respected builder of homes and small sub-divisions in Skokie and Lincolnwood in the 1950s-1970s. Like many men of his era, he was extremely self-reliant and self-taught. His energy and drive made him a success in each of his business endeavors. He will be missed by all the friends and family with whom he shared his knowledge and generous spirit. He is predeceased by his beloved wife of 63 years, Alice Doniger, who died in 2001. Together they raised two loving children, Jay (Marcia) Doniger and Dale (Robert) Flam. His greatest joy in recent years was being surrounded by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Scott Doniger, Michelle (Nick) Long; Cori Flam (Brad) Meltzer; and their children; Jonas, Lila and Theo; Ami (Matthew) Kuttler; and their children Ryan, Ali and Bennett; and Adam Flam. Graveside Service Friday, 1 p.m., at Shalom Memorial Park, 1700 W. Rand Rd., Arlington Heights. In lieu flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 820 Davis St., Suite 206A, Evanston, IL 60201.

Our heartfelt condolences on the loss of your beloved father, our neighbor of 24 years. Both of your folks were lovely people and we miss them every day. (Their home just isn't the same without them.)
Please know that we share in your sorrow.
