I still think of you pal - miss you. Just recently I was remembering trying to stuff you into an airplane so we could go to Steve and Jeanne's wedding in Illinois. Great memories

I can still practically hear Herb dragging his kayak back from the ocean in the afternoon past our place. He would hardly recognize the 'hood anymore, with all the "big vinyl uglies" as Cynthia still calls them.
Best to you, Lainey!

Herb, though we only knew you for a short time, your impact on our lives will live on forever. We will remember your no-nonsense approach to carpentry, We watched in amazement a 70 year old-6foot 9inch giant of a man get washed up on the beach in one of his many kayaks by rough five foot beachbreak, and get up smiling. He taught us how to paddle out hard against those same waves to get outside, and used to make fun of us on our longboards. We will miss the Herbie shuffle after a night of drinking us under the table with his rocket fuel martinis. We thought the saddest day we ever had at the shore was watching Herb and Mary leave the island for Florida, but we never thought we would be saying goodbye again so soon. Herb had an impact on our lives that will stay with us forever, we miss you both so much, and wish we could have been there for you. Our deepest sympathy and Love, Rick, Ed, Ted, Pat, Ron, and all of our families from 21st St. Spray Beach, N.J.

Dear Bruce and Elaine,
Jerry and I were so saddened by your Dad's illness and death. Herb was such a terrific guy and it was always great fun to see him when he and your Mom (whom I am writing separately) came to visit - a good time, with much laughter, was always guaranteed.
Truth be told, If I could have had two Fathers-in-Law, Herb would have been one of them. He was, indeed, special and we will miss him always.
Our love and sympathy to you,
Joanie and Jerry Digani

If I had had a brother, I would have wanted it to be Herb. He was my very close cousin and visiting with him and Mary was always so wonderful. Rest in Peace.

Last weekend we were in Melbourne Beach and went to Spiro Park where Herb would launch is kayak. We said our goodbyes to the greatest man we have ever met.

There was not a home in Parsippany where I felt more welcomed and comfortable. I have so many beautiful memories of the whole family. It is an overused expression, but Herb was a true gentle giant and a fine man.

We have such wonderful memories of Herb wheeling his cart and kayak down 21st every morning and night. We know what a wonderful husband, father and grandfather you have lost. You are in our thoughts.

The Parsippany Hills High School Class of 1972 would like to extend its cndolences to our friend and classmate Bruce Scherer and his family. Although Mr. Scherer was very accomplished in so many different areas, perhaps his greatest legacy will be as patriarch of a truly great family. Our thoughts and prayers are with them. Thank you, Mr. Scherer, for all that you have done and thank you for sharing your family with us. May you forever Rest in Peace.

When I was a kid working construction to get through Rutgers Heb was one of the subs on the job; he was a big gentle man who was nice to everyone, including me.
