Not sure what to say?

Still miss and think of you almost every day Herb. I know I will see you and Mary again someday

I still think of you pal - miss you. Just recently I was remembering trying to stuff you into an airplane so we could go to Steve and Jeanne's wedding in Illinois. Great memories

I can still practically hear Herb dragging his kayak back from the ocean in the afternoon past our place. He would hardly recognize the 'hood anymore, with all the "big vinyl uglies" as Cynthia still calls them. Best to you, Lainey!

I still miss the big lug. I think about him often. One of a kind.

Herb, though we only knew you for a short time, your impact on our lives will live on forever. We will remember your no-nonsense approach to carpentry, We watched in amazement a 70 year old-6foot 9inch giant of a man get washed up on the beach in one of his many kayaks by rough five foot beachbreak, and get up smiling. He taught us how to paddle out hard against those same waves to get outside, and used to make fun of us on our longboards. We will miss the Herbie shuffle after a night of...

Dear Bruce and Elaine,

Jerry and I were so saddened by your Dad's illness and death. Herb was such a terrific guy and it was always great fun to see him when he and your Mom (whom I am writing separately) came to visit - a good time, with much laughter, was always guaranteed.

Truth be told, If I could have had two Fathers-in-Law, Herb would have been one of them. He was, indeed, special and we will miss him always.

Our love and sympathy to you,

Joanie and Jerry...

If I had had a brother, I would have wanted it to be Herb. He was my very close cousin and visiting with him and Mary was always so wonderful. Rest in Peace.

Our prayers and thoughts are with the Scherer family. Herb was a great mentor and example for me and will always be remembered by Arlene and I

RIP Herb. I have many fond memories of you all from the 1970s. Mary, my heart goes out to you. I ran into Lanie on a plane in 2003 and it was so good to see her. My condolences to you all.
