I am thinking fondly of Howard and Bette (who was my ballet teacher in Glen Ellyn, Illinois, in the late 50s early 60s). Both were great friends of my family - Ruth (Mrs. Clarence) Carlson and George and Shirley Olson. Years after Bette's passing I would see Howard occasionally. Such a gentleman (I got over his teasing me for wearing bell-bottoms in the late 60's!)
I was blessed to have talked with him by phone before he passed...Spring of 2009 when I had to let him know that Ruth had passed.
My sincere - although belated - condolences to Howard's family.

I guess I am not sure who is getting this, but...I wanted to let everyone know how very sorry I am to see Howard's passing. My name is Pete West, and Howard was probably one of my dad's (Robert West) best friends. He was the best man at my mom and dad's wedding. My brother Michael and my sister Judy (who still lives in Riverside) tried to stay in touch somewhat with Howard these past few years. I was lucky enough to have dinner with him a couple times during the last year or so as I am now in Ft. Lauderdale and discovered he was not too far away.
Howard and Bette were good friends of my parents and I remember them always attending parties and events together in Riverside during the 50's and 60's. After that Howard would often visit with my parents in Delavan Wisc where they moved around the late 60's.
In any event, Howard was the best.
My condolences to his family.
