Isn't it great that Al's long hours of practice on frozen ice during his teenage years were not all in vain. He got to play hockey professionally. Not everyone can live 100 years to share successful athletic accomplishments with proud descendants. Just think how 100 years pale when compared to the promise of endless life with youthful vigor. Our heartfelt sympathy to the Suomi family!

I remember Al not only from his hardware where I shopped, but as a neighbor a few blocks away. I know he was on the Blackhawks in the 30's with my parents old friend, Don McFadden. Strangely enough, the day he passed, my girls & I were in Eveleth, MN.

Al Suomi, left a legacy for all hockey players. No matter what happened in life, how tough things were, he showed that he would never give up, and not many people can accomplish what he did. His hard work got him there. Please accept my sincere condolences for your lost. Hebrews 13:5- Our Heavenly Father understands our circumstances and can grant you inner peace, and the strength you need to deal with your loss.

We are sad now because of the loss of our loved one but what joy it's going to be to welcome him back in Paradise. No more sickness, pain, sorrow,death, all will be gone forever.

I am so sorry for your loss. Please be comforted by the fact that God cares about you personally and will help you get through your grief.. He says "I have heard your prayers, I have seen your tears" . I will heal you. 2 Kings 20:5. One way that he will heal us, is by wiping away death, mourning, and outcry. And re-establish the earthly paradise once lost, where you can hope to be reunited with Al.

Wow. What a great story, but I feel a little cheated here. Chicago has been my second home since 1990. Had I known Al was nearby, I would've made a point of stopping by his store in Countryside, just to talk hockey.
