Donovan "Bud" Palmlund, Age 93; Proud US Army Veteran, Sergeant WWII; beloved husband of the late Evelyn, nee Johnson; loving father of the late Gayle Lapekas and the late Craig Palmlund; dear grandfather of Carrah Kalat-Stamper (Mark Stamper), Craig (Melissa) Lapekas and Cassie (David) Hatch; great-grandfather of Martina, Beatrice, Charles, Benjamin Donovan and Ellie; fond brother of the late Marcelene, Avellene and Emelyn; dearest friend of The Kouzoukas Family. Visitation Saturday from 10 a.m. until time of Funeral Service 11 a.m. at The Elms Funeral Home 7600 W. Grand Ave. (North on 76th Ave.), Elmwood Park. Interment Elmwood Cemetery. Dear Carrah, Craig and Cassie
Your grandfather, my uncle Bud one of the favorite people in my life. I have lots of great memories. When I was just a young boy remember we would be at for grandpa and grandma Norby's farm at Watson for Christmas. Bud, Violet, Gayle and Craig would always be there also be there. I always played hard, it wouldn't be
long before Bud would say if you don't slow down I'm going to roll you up in a rug and that is what he did. I would be trapped there until he let me out. I loved it.
Some of my other great memories are of pheasant hunting with him and the rest of my uncles. In the beginning I was just there to walk through the hardest places to walk to scare up the birds because I was too young to carry a gun. They trusted me do that when I was just 9. That wouldn't happen today.
I have lots of great memories of Bud all of them good. I think of him often.

Dear Carrah, Craig and Cassie,
I was sorry to hear of Uncle Bud's passing. He was always so full of life, laughter, and love. I can see in my minds eye his great smile, and feel his warm hug. He was a favorite uncle, and a wonderful friend of my dad. God bless all of you, his beautiful grandchildren, whom he loved dearly.

Bud was a man with many titles and ours was Uncle. We have many fond memories of Bud. He was and is one of my favorite uncles along with Uncle Donnie who just passed away last Wed.When I tried to call Bud there of course was no answer so went on the Internet and found out that he also had passed. It saddened me that both of my favorite uncles had passed.

Dear Carrah, Craig and Cassie,
My name is Bill Trow and I grew up on Superior Street down the block from your mother Gayle and your uncle Craig. Your Mom and I went thru grammar and high school together. I palled around with your uncle Craig and I knew your Grandma Violet and Grandpa Bud very well. I used to answer the phone for Grandpa Bud's business when they were away on vacation and I also worked two summers sanding floors for your Grandpa Bud. He was a tremendous man and I respected him as a boss very much. He was a fair boss, worked me hard but paid me well. I received word on Bud's passing just this morning thru contacts on the Austin HS website. I apologize that I was not able to get in on such short notice to pay my respects. I was very close to the entire Palmlund family and I am very sorry about the passing of your grandfather. Please accept my deepest sympathy on the passing of your Grandfather Bud. It still hurts and I still miss your Mom and Uncle Craig very much
