Kristina Pravica Obituary
Kristina Mira Pravica Rankins, J.D. passed away peacefully after a valiant five year struggle with cancer in the company of her family on Sunday, April 26 in Los Angeles. She leaves behind her beloved husband, Jason Rankins, her cherished father Walter, loving brothers Michael and Steven, their caring spouses, Maria and Efthimia, her adoring nephews Nicholas and Luka, precious nieces Natalia and Sabrina. She was predeceased by her older brother Mitchell, her mother Mira. Kristina was born in Maywood, IL in 1972. She was a graduate of the University of Illinois Champaign, Yale Divinity School, and the University of Southern California Law School. She worked as an attorney in Los Angeles for many years and was a member of the California Bar Association. Kristina was a tireless advocate for struggling families and ministered in the California prisons. She was also the lead singer for the rock group Avalanche Lily. Her pervasive laughter, angelic singing voice, unwavering faith, eye catching and joyous smiles, and warm and open heart touched many and will be sorely missed. Resting at Muzyka & Son Funeral Home, 5776 West Lawrence Ave, Sunday May 10, 5-9 pm. Pomen (Wake Service) 7 pm. Funeral service Monday 11:00 am at Holy Resurrection Serbian Orthodox Cathedral, 5701 N Redwood Dr, Chicago. Interment St. Sava Cemetery, Libertyville. May her memory be eternal Vjecnaja Pamjat. I remember Kristina way back in high school as a constant source of laughter. No matter what was going on, we laughed and and made our own laughter at nonsensical stuff. It was awesome. She had wanted to be a brain surgeon or a lawyer. I'm Glad we reconnected on FB back in 2010 and I was able to send her cards when she first got her diagnosis. I wish I would have stayed more in touch. Fond memories I will always have of a good person. She is with God and able to share her faith face to face now, which is comforting to know. May she be another angel watching down over family and friends and those she tirelessly served.

I will always remember the very first time we met. Kris will always be one of the brightest & most beautiful "Angels" in my own life.
