Mr. Roy Leighton Lake passed away suddenly at his residence Monday, December 15, 2008. Roy was born in Asquith, Saskatchewan on September 15,1934. He worked mostly in the Trucking Industry until 1972 when he and his family moved from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan to Thunder Bay, Ontario where he owned and operated Lake Ramp Service Inc. at the Thunder Bay Airport. He and his family had the Airmail Contract with Canada Post for 17 years. During these years he also owned and operated Maint'N'All Services spending several Christmases repairing someone's broken furnace. He retired in 1997 due to ill health. Roy married his wife Betty and they celebrated their 45th Wedding Anniversary in August 2008. They had two children Garnet (Sue) of St. Catharines, Ontario and Gayle (Malcolm) Chaisson of Thunder Bay. He had four grandchildren Kayla and Megan Lake and Tyler and Troy Chaisson. Other relatives left to mourn are sisters Shirley (Jock) Cleghorn, Audrey Swidrovich and a brother Wayne (Carol) all living in Asquith, Saskatchewan. He was predeceased by his parents and brother in law John Swidrovich. Roy was known as a very friendly guy who would do anything for anyone. He will be sorely missed by his family and friends. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, December 17, 2008 from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM in the EVEREST FUNERAL CHAPEL, 299 Waverley St. at Algoma. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of choice will be greatly appreciated. Please sign the online condolences at everestofthunderbay.com"
