Nicolas Colantino Obituary

Nicolas Joseph Colantino, age 85, Inverness, died Tuesday, July 12, 2011, at Arbor Trail Rehabilitation and Nursing Home. Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Fatima Church, Hwy. 41, Inverness, Saturday, July 16, 2011, at 10 a.m.
Mr. Colantino was born in Manhattan, New York, September 3, 1925.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Carmen Colantino, and brother Thomas Colantino. He moved and retired to Inverness, Florida, in 1992.
He was a World War II veteran, having been drafted into the U.S. Army and served in Europe.
In New York City, he was an administrative assistant in a men's hosiery company, bar manager for a Filipino restaurant named Maharlika and maître d' at a Swiss restaurant.
During his retirement, he volunteered in Auxiliary Group of Citrus Memorial hospital and had served for 15 years. He was director, Socio-Civic Affairs of the Philippine American Corporation of Florida (PACOF), Inc. for 12 years for which he was one of only three directors awarded an Outstanding Loyalty Service plaque. In PACOF, Inc. he was a very active member of the Maharlika Performing Arts of Florida, and maintained a column entitled "This made me Laugh" in the Corporation's Newsletter, called the "VOICE," publishing most of his collected popular and selected jokes.

My deepest sympathy to Nick's family. I have known Nick for quite a
long time. We were both in the Citrus Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.
He was such a delightful person and always had a joke. We shall
miss his smiling face.
