I was a patient and was so ill with my asthma when I meet him at age 25. He tested me and told me I was a mess being allergic to everything out doors. I started injections and In 6 months my daily asthma attacks dropped to one a week! I could finally sleep Thursday the nite!Last time I spoke to him was 17 years ago. I worked for Good Sam in Cincinnati, Oh and called him one one of his accounts for insurance information. We chatted a while telling him his son Jonathan was my doctor. He ask me if I was well taken care of by him. I assured him I wasHe was such a kind caring person and will be missed by many!!

I am so touched by the amount and variety of people that have expressed their condolences for the passing of my Grandfather, I. Leonard Bernstein. I will always have the words of my Grandfather in my mind, to love the Jewish People and Israel. My Grandfather was a man that was dedicated to medicine, and many remember him as such, but not entirely. He was dedicated to his work, but also his family, his people, his identity as a Jew, and his own history. He is sorely missed. May his soul be bound up with the Holy One, Blessed be He, and may his memory be for a blessing.

It was with great sadness that I heard (from Evie Barson) of the passing of Leonard. I was so happy to have a chance to (finally) meet Leonard and spend time with him and his family at Evie's daughter, Nicole's wedding. Pictures from that celebration can still be found on my Facebook page.
Leonard was a truly amazing person and he leaves a legacy of love to all who knew him. He will surely be missed.

My deepest and most sincere sympathies go out to the family of Dr. Bernstein. He was a great man that gave so much to The Mastocytosis Society....a rare disease that I suffer with. He saved many lives. I will be forever great full for his research and time spent helping save the lives of others and his devotion to help find a cure for Mastocytosis. ~ Allie and Jeremy Barnett., Blue Ash, Ohio

Deepest sympathy to the famiy of Dr. Leonard Bernstein. He saved my life a few years ago, when I contracted what he called "almost a Legionnaire's Disease" on a Carnival line cruise ship. Four other physicians had spent 4 months, having me in and out of hospitals, with no solution in site. Dr. Leonard gave me one day of tests, an immediate solution, medications, and I stopped coughing immediately. And I had been coughing around the clock, and nearly had a heart attack from so much coughing.
I will miss him very much - miss talking about our travels - and just enjoyed our visits.
Today when I read the death notice in the Enquirer I looked up to Heaven and said -
"Leonard, why did you pick the worst allergy season we've had in years to depart this world"...I hope he got a laugh out of that...
Miss you, doctor and friend.

Our condolences to all the Bernstein family.
We loved Dr. Leonard derly, and I am personally grateful for the time he saved my life when I came back from an ocean cruise with what he called "almost a Legionaire's Disease"..
Four other doctors had me in and out of hospitals for 4 months, to no avail. I nearly had a heart attack from around the clock coughing, and in one day Dr. Leonard cured me.
I will miss him very much.

I had the privilege of working with Dr. Leonard and his family for 4 years. Even since leaving I always refer people with asthma and allergy problems to this wonderful group. I have very fond memories of my time there and learned a lot from everyone. I am sure that Dr. Leonard will be missed by everyone. His contributions to the field and the rest of the community will be remembered. My love, thoughts and prayers to the rest of the family in this time of loss.

A wonderful physician and caring man. My father always said he saved his life in 1969. They had a good relationship helping people with asthma & allergies through the Asthma & Allergy Foundation of America. How soon he followed my father in death is what is getting to me.
I also had the honor of working beside him for 5 years, he and Miriam gave me my 1st job is medicine which lead to my career. I'm forever grateful to Dr. Leonard.
My mother, Ruth, and I send our condolences to the entire Bernstein family.

Such a great and kind man. I had severe asthma back in the 60's. My Mother was a widow with 5 children and we could ill afford to pay for desensitization shots every week. My Mom was a RN and he allowed her to give them to me at home. There are not many individuals who would go out on a limb because they cared so much. Thank you Dr. Bernstein.
