Walter L. "Wally" beloved husband of Peggy Sample (nee Griffin) Loving father of Walter (Susanne) Sample. Dear brother of Susan (Gary) Greiner, Sally (Alan) Sakalas and Sheila (Bill) Oeters. Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, friends and animals. Wally was an avid musician, song writer, artist, animal lover. Kentucky Colonel and member of the Knights of Columbus. Passed away suddenly December 14, 2016. Age 62 years. Visitation Tuesday from 2-6 P.M. at the Neidhard-MInges Funeral Home, 3155 Harrison Ave., Westwood. Funeral Mass Wednesday 11:00 A.M. at St. Martin Church, Cheviot. Donations may be made to Fur Peace Ranch Scholarship Fund for Veterans, 39495 St. Clair Rd., Pomeroy, OH 45769 or Animal Friends Humane Society, 1820 Princeton Rd., Hamilton, OH 45011. neidhardminges.com

I met Walt at Fur Peace and always looked forward to running into him there. I enjoyed his sense of humor and his songwriting skill was amazing. He will be missed.

My good friend and co-conspirator on many occasions.....he would call me the "hillbilly from Pittsburgh".....take good care on your journey my friend....we'll catch up on the other side one day.

I had the great pleasure of knowing Walt and witnessing his remarkable energy and enthusiasm for life. Sharing in his creativity and his marvelous sense of humor were some of the most meaningful and enjoyable times I've spent on this planet. I will miss him more than words can adequately convey. Farewell, my friend. My condolences to Peggy, Walt Jr and the Sample family .

Met Walt at the Fur Peace Ranch and he made an instant impression on everyone! His love of life and sense of humor filled every room he entered. His music defined him and he loved creating it. We shared many a tune and laugh. He will be sorely missed by all those who knew him!!!!

I was very saddened to hear the news of Walt's passing and I would like extend my condolences to Peggy and Walt Jr.. I met Walt at the Fur Peace Ranch and we became very close friends over the years. We of course shared a love of music and discussed and collaborated on music projects but we also became such close friends we could openly talk and laugh about all aspects of life. Walt, I will miss you, my friend.

Walt was a member of our Fur Peace Family of musicians. But he was more than that. When I met him 19 years ago, he became a member of my family. No doubt the man came hard wired with that sense of humor and optimistic view on life but I saw him blossom and grow into an amazing songwriter. He touched the lives of everyone he met. He was kind, funny and honest and if he befriended you....it was for life. My life is so much better for having had him in it.
