Gerene Messer Obituary

GERENE MESSER

KNOXVILLE, TENN. - Gerene Messer, 72, of Knoxville, Tenn., went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 30, 2011, surrounded by her family. She was the daughter of the late Glenn and Delthia Jenkins.

Gerene is survived by her husband of 50 years, Nelson Messer; by a son, Joe Messer and his wife, Karen, of Virginia Beach, Va.; by four grandsons, Westin, Bryce, Luke and Alex; by a sister, Gwenith Sanders and her husband, Charles, of Sylva; by two brothers, Kyle Jenkins and his wife, Christie, of Deltaville, Va., and Colon Jenkins and his wife, Dorothy, of Bryson City; and by many nieces and nephews.

Gerene was a member of Black Oak Heights Baptist Church of Knoxville, Tenn. and worked at the Cracker Barrel of Knoxville for 34 years.

Funeral service will be held Sunday, April 3, 2011 at 1:30 p.m. at Bryson City Funeral Home with the Rev. Eddie Deitz officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Saturday at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Sawmill Hill Cemetery.

Rene was our favorite waitress at Cracker Barrel.She always had a smile for you & made you laugh.
