Virginia Ann Senechal, 66, died unexpectedly on July 13, 2014.

Virginia (Ginny) was born on March 15, 1948 in Missoula, Montana. She moved frequently with her Army family between Ft. Bragg, NC, Munich and Heidelberg in Germany and the family's hometown, Seattle, WA. Her high school graduation in 1966 took place in the storied Heidelberg Castle.

Always an artist and musician, Virginia was talented in many areas and also excelled in sports. She was a member of the Ft. Bragg swim team and was a life guard.

Duke University took her back to North Carolina; following graduation, she returned to Seattle where she built a career as an editor at the Univ. of Washington, and then independently.

She retired from there to join most of her immediate family in Asheville, NC . After a time with an Asheville law firm, she retired for good. Always a bird lover, she developed a new skill, bird photography, and became known for her "Birds of Beaver Lake" calendars.

Her many friends here in Asheville will miss her for her leadership as well as for her ability as a pianist. She was a member of the Gurdjieff Foundation of Western North Carolina.

A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM, Sunday, July 27, 2014 in the chapel of Morris Funeral Home, 304 Merrimon Avenue. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Beaver Lake Bird Sanctuary, c/o the Elisha Mitchell Audubon Society, PO Box 18711, Asheville, NC 28814.
