Marshall - Vivien Leigh Gordon, 48, of Sprinkle Branch Rd., Marshall, died Wednesday, October 5, 2011.
A native of Bakersfield, CA, Vivien was a graduate of Long Beach State University, with a BA in Theater Arts. She had lived in WNC for the last 8 years. She was a former employee of the Biltmore Company, in the Floral Design Department, and most recently was the co-owner with her husband of Freckle Farm Landscaping.
Vivien is survived by her husband, Dane Gordon; a daughter, Abigael Gordon; a son John-Thomas Gordon; and by her parents, Michael Farnsworth and Sharon Hartwell Ellano.
A casual gathering of friends and family will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Asheville Greenworks, 357 Depot Street, Asheville, North Carolina, 28801.

So, so sad to learn of Viv's passing. We worked together in the late 90's, at The Last Resort Grill in Athens, GA. Along with several other friends from those days, I had hoped to get in touch with Viv again--never knowing that she was living in NC. I have thought of her often over the years, and am so sorry to know we will never get a chance to finally catch up. Dane, my heart goes out to you and your children. I still have the huge potted ficus tree y'all gave me when you left for Africa. ( It is over 14 Ft tall now!) Each time I see it, it reminds me of the good times we shared. I'll never forget what a truly amazing person she was!

Dane, deep condolences are expressed to you from Sigma Alpha Iota National Headquarters. We always loved having Vivien breeze in with her hands all dirty from having been into the latest flowerbed creation--what a loving, cheerful spirit! Her legacy will continue to bloom, both in the gardens she planted with you, and in her children.

Dane I am so sorry my heart breaks at the thought of your loss Viv touched so many lives with her positive outlook and zest for life. Dane I knew my dear friend was in a safe place when she fell for you. The love that you two shared beamed and was evident in your life, especially in the creation of your beautiful children. Abigael Plum & John-Thomas your mom was so proud of you always sharing stories of your talents Abbey the little actress and John-Thomas the coolest skater . I have many wonderful memories of what a Silly Goose your mother could be when we were kids. I wish I could be there with you. This summer Vivien created my "enchanted garden"... she had the unique gift to be able to actualize what I could merely imagine. Her positive spirit & warmhearted disposition will be missed by so many. My sincere condolences to Dane, Abigail, & John-Thomas.

I am deeply saddened to hear this awful news. Although I have not seen Viv in many years, some of my fondest Mammoth memories and adventures included her. My heart goes out to Dane, Abigail, and John-Thomas, I am deeply sorry for your loss. We were all graced by her and fortunate to have known her.

Of all the friends I have ever known, Vivien is the sweetest of them all, by far! She loved God and she is having all the Heavenly adventures now that we can only imagine. Dane, Abigael, and John-Thomas.. Our hearts and hugs are with you all. Vivian was so full of love and tenderness and kindness. I never saw her without a smile. I will always remember the first time we met, in southern India, she was full of life and freckles. Our Dear Sweet Vivie, You will be missed by so many. You were always so special to me because we each had freckles. Mine faded yours didn't. We had talks about those freckles..Do you remember?
Dane, Abrigail, John Thomas, I have known Viv since she was a little girl. I just can't imagine the pain you are going through now at the loss of your Wife and Mother. Just always remember what a loving, giving and sweet person she was. I know she brought years of memories to all of her friends in Calif.

My heart is sad. Vivien was such a beautiful, kind, gentle and loving person who made an impact on all who were fortunate enough to meet her. I will think of her often when I look at our beautiful gardens. My heart goes out to Dane, Abigail, John-Thomas and other family members and friends who are mourning her loss.
