Ursula Martens Obituary

URSULA MARTENS

MILLS RIVER - Ursula Martens of Mills River, beloved friend, teacher, counselor, and mother, passed into the Light on March 13, 2013 peacefully at home after a series of strokes. Born January 2, 1933 in California to Gertrude and Otto Martens, Ursula worked as a professional musician at Los Angeles movie studios and the Hollywood Bowl before graduating from Pomona College and attending UCLA graduate school. Although visually impaired from an accident during adolescence, she served nationally as a speaker, counselor, and member of the Board for the Astron Corporation and the Association of Research and Enlightenment, specializing in topics as diverse as ancient Egypt, meditation, dreams, A Course in Miracles, and organic gardening. After her retirement to the mountains in 1995, she continued to teach at the Unity in Mills River and was an integral group of the Women in Oneness gathering that focused on spirituality and healing for individuals, groups, and the planet. She was predeceased by her parents and felines and is survived by her children and grandchildren, Stephen and Tiffany Bonelli, and Kathi and Daniel Kemper. The family is deeply grateful for the loving care provided by Four Seasons Hospice and the numerous aides and friends who allowed her to remain at home to the end. The remembrance ceremony is private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Association for Research and Enlightenment.

Ursula was the kindest, gentlest, strongest person with a vast wealth of life experiences, knowledge and wisdom.

I had the great fortune of meeting her in the late 80s, thanks to her daughter's college roommate that I knew in the DC area.
Ursula became an important teacher and mentor that facilitated a major turning point in my life, to step into my destiny.
Several years after her move to NC from Virginia Beach, I was able to visit her there, and it was like no time had passed.

She lived her truth, every day, with every action.

She was an old soul that helped so many.

I am just one of hundreds, if not thousands, whose life she touched deeply.

I know she is equally busy on the other side as well

Blessings Ursula
Thank you for being you

Stephen, Tiffany and Family,

I was so sad to hear of Ursula's passing. I know how much you loved her and she loved you! Just in talking to Tiffany over the years I felt like I knew her! She had such a AMAZING life, the places she had been, the people she met and lives she touched, I'm sure will always be remembered. My thoughts and prayers are always with you!

Love,
