Herschell Hipps Obituary
Devero Hipps, Sr.
Asheville - Herschell Devero Hipps, Sr., 73, of Asheville, died Sunday, February 2, 2014.
A native of Buncombe Co., he was a son of the late James and Frances Rice Hipps. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Rosie Hipps, twin sister Hazel Lipe, and a brother, Bill Hipps.
Mr. Hipps is survived by daughters Leigh Banks and her husband, Herschell's special son-in-law Alan "Coolie" Banks, Elizabeth Hipps, and Sherry Roberts; son Herschell D. Hipps, Jr.; adopted son Ron Hipps; 7 grandchildren; special granddaughter Krystal and husband Tommy; 5 great-grandchildren; sister Barbara Hyder; half-sisters Julia Ann, Mary Frances, and Evon; brothers J.D. Hipps and Denny Hipps; step-brother Buddy Gann; and mother of his children and best friend Judy Jordan Lovelace.
A private memorial service may be held at a later date.
The family wishes to express special thanks to CarePartners Hospice, the Cancer Center, and to Dr. Don Jackson and Dr. Raymond Thertulien.

Sandra, Patsy and I are so sorry to hear of Herschells passing. Comfort in knowing he is dancing in heaven. I haven't seen him for years, how do cousins get so parted that they don't see each other for years....sad..
