Charles Rankin Obituary
Fairview - Charles "Chuck" Edward Rankin, 59, of Fairview, passed away on Friday, June 16, 2017 at Mission Hospital.
Chuck was born in Jackson County to the late Robert and Rosemary Whicker Rankin. He graduated from UNC majoring in film, hosted Livestock Music Festival, and was the owner of Wood Tech Enterprises and former owner and Brew Master of Dilworth. He was also a Percussionist for one of Asheville's most beloved bands "Circus Mutt." He was a "lover of the land," people, and of all animals. He worked hard to purchase The Rankin Farm for later use as a conservancy.
Survivors include his wife, Jill "Jilly" Spalding Rankin; loving step-daughters, Olivia and Alyssa; sister-in-law, Jennifer Smith (Farley) and nephews, Connor and Braxton Smith.
Per Charles' wishes, there will be no services.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Southern Appalachian Highlands Conservancy, 372 Merrimon Ave., Asheville, NC. 28801 or to Brother Wolf Animal Rescue, 31 Glendale Ave., Asheville, NC, 28803.

We still miss you Chuck. Yesterday as you likely know was a Celebration of life for our friend Paul Nelson.(65 yrs). We know you were there to greet him when he crossed over on June 1st. We are so grateful for that. XO Love you forever Chuck, and Papa Paul too.

My condolences to his family and friends. I knew him only as friendly voice on the phone, helping me with some tooling questions. It is nice to know what I thought: that he was a well rounded individual, strong in his community and probably as interesting a guy to have beer with as anyone.

Chuck you meant a lot to a lot of people but I know those you loved and were closest to are still in disbelief. The love Jilly and you shared was rare. And the love and closeness you had with Olivia and Aylssa will always remain in their hearts. The kids including your nephews, Connor and Braxton will always remember the times with you on the farm. We will remember your kindness and keep all the wonderful memories bright in our minds. Rest in peace my friend. And may all the wonderful memories bring everyone peace.

Sweet Chuck will be so dearly missed. He was such an amazing man. His love and support for Jill, Olivia and Alyssa was amazing. It made Jill moving to North Carolina so much easier on her friends and family here. Seeing them together you could feel the love. He even came to a wrestling tournament to support the Falcon wrestling team. He loved everyone unconditionally. He will so missed.
