Joseph P. Formulak

Joseph P. Formulak, 56, of West Enterprise Street, Glen Lyon, passed away peacefully in his sleep, after a short illness, on Monday, Aug. 14, 2017, in the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital, Wilkes-Barre, surrounded by his sister, Sharon and "second Mother," Jeannie Alberson.

Joseph was born in Nanticoke on Nov. 24, 1960, the son of the late Joseph S. and Gertrude Koshinski Formulak. He was a life resident of Glen Lyon where he was a member of Holy Spirit Parish. He was a member of the graduating Class of 1978 of the Greater Nanticoke Area High School. Joseph had a brief work career before his auto accident in 1978, which resulted in him having a traumatic brain injury. He was cared lovingly by his mother and father for many years. Before his tragic accident, he enjoyed hunting and fishing with his brother in law Vinny. Later, Joseph enjoyed watching "The Golden Girls" and" Family Feud" on TV. Most of all, he enjoyed going for car rides with his "special angel," Jeannie, who took him to his favorite stores and to Lily Lake, always providing her with driving directions.

Preceding him in death, besides his beloved parents, Gertrude and Joseph, was a sister, Gayle Yuhas Cregg; and cousin, Joseph Lashinski, who provided care to him for many years.

Surviving him are sister, Sharon Gayeski and husband, Vincent, Shickshinny; brother, Gerald Formulak and his wife, Cynthia, Chino, Calif.; several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Joseph was very fortunate to have many wonderful caregivers during his lifetime. They loved him and took excellent care of him.

The family would like to extend their deep gratitude to Al and Alma Berlot and his wonderful care giving aides, Donna and Jane and most especially, Jeanne Albertson, who always treated Joseph with great care, kindness and love.

Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. from George A. Strish Inc. Funeral Home, 211 W. Main St., Glen Lyon. A Mass of Christian Burial is at 10 a.m. in Holy Spirit/St. Adalbert's Parish, Glen Lyon. Interment will be in St. Adalbert's Cemetery, Glen Lyon. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday and from 8:30 until the time of service Saturday.
