Tyler Winstead Obituary
Born Dec. 6, 1997, in Wilkes-Barre, he was a son of Terrence Sr. and Christine (Golden) Winstead, Wilkes-Barre.
Tyler was in the eigth grade at GAR Memorial Junior Senior High School, where he recently received High Honors for his academic achievements. He enjoyed learning about science and computers.
He played on the GAR Grenadiers seventh and eigth grade basketball team and also played on the Heights Packers football team. In earlier years, he wrestled for the Wilkes-Barre Wolves.
Tyler enjoyed playing video games with his siblings and friends or a pick-up game of basketball. He had a smile that would light up the world.
In addition to Tyler's parents, he is survived by his loving maternal grandparents, Willie and Carol (McCloe) Golden, with whom he resided and was raised by since he was three; paternal grandfather, Norman Douglas Winstead Sr., Md.; maternal great-grandmother, Bobbie Golden, Philadelphia; three brothers, Willie and Tydus Winstead and Christopher Lamoreux; two sisters, Jasmine Golden and Tawanna Winstead, all of Wilkes-Barre; several half-brothers and sisters; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Tyler was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Marguerite Winstead, who passed in 2011.
Homegoing services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Mount Zion Baptist Church, 105 Hill St., Wilkes-Barre. Officiating will be the Rev. Michael Brewster, pastor of Mount Zion Baptist Church. Interment will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Hanover Township.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday at Mount Zion Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make donations to the Tyler T. Winstead Memorial Fund, c/o Bank of America, 406 S. Main St., Wilkes-Barre, PA 18701.
Kniffen O'Malley Funeral Home, Inc., 465 S. Main St., Wilkes-Barre, has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Willie,I am not sure if you will remember me but we worked at Wilkes together (I had just just started) I went with you on your route several times. I remember the UNCONDITIONAL LOVE you and your wife had for all your granchildren and the importance of keeping them all together and the need for you to leave Wilkes inorder to do that. Carol and Willie, my heart is breaking. Tyler was Chris' best buddy. Life will never be the same. I'll miss his sweet smile, and the hugs he gave me every time I would see him. I'll miss him calling me Miss Anna. But, God had another plan for Tyler, and we may not understand that right now. But we all have to know that he will be watching over us. I love you all dearly. God Took Him To His Loving Home
God saw him getting tired, a cure was not to be.
He wrapped him in his loving arms and whispered ‘Come with me.'
He suffered much in silence, his spirit did not bend.
He faced his pain with courage, until the very end.
He tried so hard to stay with us but his fight was not in vain,

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.

That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,

But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
