Erica Zagata Obituary
She was born and raised in Shickshinny. She attended Northwest Area High School, where she was a star field hockey player, excellent student and loved sports. She graduated with the Class of 1991 and continued her education at Luzerne County Community College.
Before moving to Gadsden, Ala., Erica was a waitress at Pine Cone and Prime Time Restaurant. She also was a health physics technician at various nuclear power plants.
In 2000, she moved to Alabama, where she received her bachelor's degree in applied science and nursing at Jacksonville State University and Gadsden State Community College. She later became a registered nurse at Riverview Regional Medical Center and worked as an Alacare home health nurse.
Erica was preceded in death by her mother, Joyce Zagata; and by grandparents, Andrew Joseph Zagata, Louise Tomshaw Williams and William T. Williams.
Survivors include her father, Eric Zagata; grandmother, Lois Good Zagata; and brother, Justin Gerrard Zagata.
She was a very beautiful, bright, fun, ambitious, selfless and hard-working woman, excelling in everything she did and always looking forward to her next adventure. She loved the outdoors, animals, helping people and spending time with her family and friends. She had the ability to brighten any room just by walking in. She touched the lives of many and was loved by all. Erica was a daughter, sister, niece, cousin and a friend who will be deeply missed.
A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Morgan Funeral Chapel, 625 Gilbert's Ferry Road S.E., Attalla, AL 35954.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a fund that has been established to cover a Pennsylvania life memorial and celebration (to be attended by classmates and friends); said donations may be sent to Michael McNeill, 190 Blue Door Road, Shickshinny, PA 18655.

I had the privilege of getting to know Erica when she was helping her family get settled in their new home in Gallant. She was a deliteful prson and took such good care of her Mom and Dads move! Such a beautiful and sweet young lady! Such a shock and I know such a loss to her family! You are in my thoughts and prayers!

I had the priviledge to work with Erica years ago at the Pine Cone Restaurant. Even though I was much older she became a good friend. I will always remember her laughter and smile. I will miss her.

Erica was such a sweetheart. We had a lot of good laughs and tears over the years. Erica never let me forget that she had to tie my shoes for me when we were in kindergarten. She sure will be missed. My prayers go out to you Zagata family.
