Joseph Kasisky Obituary

Joseph D. Kasisky Sr., 59, of Wilkes-Barre passed away Friday, Feb. 21, 2014, in Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.

Born in Pittston, he was the son of the late Andrew and Maria Shoemaker Kasisky. He was a graduate of Pittston Area School District. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War. Joseph was employed as a tree trimmer by Asplundh Tree Co.

Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, was his sister, Mary Kasisky.

He is survived by wife, Linda; his sons, Joseph and his wife, Tara, Pittston; Shaun Hanahan, Wilkes-Barre; daughters, Amber Kasisky, Pittston; and Christine Hanahan, Wilkes-Barre; brothers, Richard and his wife, Irene Kasisky, Nanticoke; Andrew and his wife, Cheryl Kasisky, Pittston; Ronald and his wife, Laura, Wyoming; and Michael and his wife, Betty, Pittston; eight grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 9 a.m. Tuesday from the Kizis-Lokuta Funeral Home, 134 Church St., Pittston. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. in St. John the Evangelist Church, William Street, Pittston. Interment will be at the convenience of the family. Family and friends may call at the funeral home Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. The AMVETS of Dupont will have a service Monday evening.

When we lose a Port Boy we lose a part of us. Joe or"Kai" as he was known to we Port Boys was a great friend in the good old days of Port Griffith. To all of the Kasisky family my heartfelt sympathy. A good person taken from us too soon. RIP
