Morris Wayne Bennett MORRIS WAYNE BENNETT, 86, Overbrook, KS, passed away Sunday, March 1, 2015. He was born July 9, 1928 in Wichita, Kansas the son of Oliver and Margaret (Smith) Ogden. Mr. Bennett moved from Topeka, KS and has lived in Overbrook, KS since 1980. He worked as an Engineer for Herman s Excavating in Topeka for many years. He later worked as a Disc Jockey for WIBW Radio also in Topeka. Mr. Bennett was a Board Member for the Overbrook Fire Department. He also enjoyed teaching Hamm Radio and playing the guitar in his band, Morrie Wayne and Trail Riders. He married Louise Moody in 1949 she passed away in 2003. He later married Karen Cowhick in 1990 she passed away in 2006. Mr. Bennett was preceded in death by wife, Louise and his second wife, Karen; a brother, Charles Milham and sister, Bonnie Davis. He is survived by six sons, Michael Bennett; Jimmy Bennett and wife, Bonnie; and Larry Walters all of Topeka, KS, Bobby Cowhick and wife, Carol of Salina, KS; Ronny Cowhick of Wichita, KS and Richard Cowhick of Topeka, KS ; three daughters, Connie Colgrove and husband, Stacy; and Bobbi Tetaun and husband, Hank; and Gayle Gardner all of Topeka, KS; brother, Keith Bennett and wife, Marlene of Florida; 13 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be held 2 pm Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at Greenwood-Roberts Funeral Home, 730 Western Heights Drive, Overbrook, KS 66524. Inurnment will follow at Overbrook Cemetery.
