I knew "Joanie" in her early years, as she was frequently in and out of my house with my daughter, Michelle Jones (now Kern). She was sweet, but mischievous, and I was on the receiving end of many of Joanie and Michelle's pranks. The two of them even succeeded in getting my car pulled over by a SN Co Sheriff's officer, for suspicion of kidnapping! I did not have the opportunity to know Joan as a young woman, but it is clear from the other guest book entries that she grew up to be a wonderful, loving person. Beryl, Katie, Buzz, Sharon, and now Joan will all be fondly remembered, and it was a great pleasure to know them, in this life.

I remember when I was at station 1 I would go across the street to visit ECC. They would ask about a call they sent us on or we would just swap stories about things going on in the county. Listening to Joan tell stories was a riot. She just seemed to know how to present them. We would all just sit there and laugh. That's something I will always remember about Joan, her sense of humor. I want to extend my thoughts and prayers to Joans family in their time of need.

David, Ryan, & Jordan,
We hold you in our hearts with much love as you grieve for our most precious Joan. Her giggle, smile, intellect, and sincere caring made her a special person to us. We will miss her. She is now resting in God's loving care.

David and family.
I will always remember the Christmas day when Joan and her crew at the ECC called two cold lonely paramedics into the office to share Christmas dinner with them. That is when I first met you and Smedloe. This act of kindness showed what a truly good person she was. In my professional relationships with Joan she always treated me respectfully. Her courage to fight for her life as she did should be an inspiration to us all. She loved you very much. I could see it in her eyes when we all had lunch on labor day. Thanks for taking such good care of her. You and your family will be in my prayers.

I greatly value having had the opportunity to work with Joan in the emergency services. Her work ethic, get-it-done attutude, and inviting personality was always appreciated. She brightened the room with her presence, and remains a lasting inspiration to me. God Bless Joan, and please uplift each of her family members during this time of sadness.

David, we are so sorry to hear about Joanie's passing. We fortunately we able to meet her while dressed as batwoman a few years back. We know what a struggle it has been and how strong you have been for you both. She couldn't have asked for a better husband and best friend. Please let us know if there is anything we can do.

I can't think of anyone more giving and funloving. We didn't stay in touch as often as we should have , but all our fun, fond memories will always remain. Our family is truly richer for the friendship we shared.

We also grew apart as time past. But I can remember the good times at State Street(especially the 5th grade play) and Chase, and the get togethers at Rhonda's house. Linda always was good at keeping me informed on your prognosis. You will always be remembered. Your family is in my prayers.

In a room full of strangers at a new school the first comforting words to this uneasy 7th grader came from Joan. And through the years, popping in and out of my world I have always enjoyed your presence.
Joan you are wonderful.

I really enjoyed working with Joan for the past eight years at the Johnson County ECC. She had a strong work ethic and was very skilled in all areas of her job. She had a great sense of humor and was fun to work with. I greatly admired her courage as she fought her disease. She will be missed by many people in the public safety community.

Thank you so much for being such a good friend to my sister, and my family. Even when you were sick with cancer you still came to help us bury our mom and must have cooked for two days to bring us food. I hope I touch as many lives as you did in your short, full life.
