Mary Sands

Mary Elizabeth Sands, 42, Valley Falls, died Tuesday, May 10, 2011, as a result of injuries from an automotive accident south of Valley Falls. She was born on Oct. 5, 1968, at Kansas City, KS, the daughter of John D. and Judith Lewis Sands. She graduated from Valley Fall High School and later from Kansas State University with a degree in Animal Husbandry. Mary Beth had worked at Hills Pet Nutrition and Home Depot, both in Topeka, and at Wamego as a Certified Medical Aide. She was a member of Fairlawn Heights Wesleyan Church in Topeka. She was preceded in death by her father in 1987. Survivors include her mother, Judith Richardson, Mound City; her sister, Julie (Brent) Craft, Valley Falls; a brother John Christopher Sands, two half-sisters, Johnna Rae (Jack) Schreckhise and Jo Dean Hansuld, all of Pleasanton, and many nephews and nieces. The Memorial Service will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 16, 2011, at Fairlawn Heights Wesleyan Church, 5400 SW Huntoon, Topeka. Inurnment will be at 3:00 p.m. at Glenwood Cemetery at Basehor. Visitation will be at the church one hour prior to the service.
