Ted Bechtel Obituary

Ted Bechtel, 74, of Overland Park, KS, passed away Monday, June 23, 2008, at St. Joseph Hospital, Kansas City, MO, after a brief illness. Ted was born November 2, 1933, in Topeka, KS, the son of Paul and Rose (Wanstrath) Bechtel. He graduated from Hayden High School in Topeka in 1951 and attended St. Benedict's College in Atchison, KS on a football scholarship prior to active duty in the United States Air Force. After serving his country for four years, he returned to graduate from the University of Kansas in 1961. He retired from the Missouri Air National Guard Reserves in 1974 and from Shook, Hardy, and Bacon in 1999. Ted is survived by his wife of 45 years, Marilyn (Stowe) Bechtel of the home, daughters Lynn Bechtel, Lawrence, KS; Kathy Zink (Eric), Olathe, KS; and Christie Fischer (Mike), Overland Park, KS; grandchildren Nathan Fischer, Ryan Fischer, Reilly Zink, Rachel Zink, and Cory Zink; brother, Robert Bechtel (Joleen) of Lawrence, KS, sister Joan Wankum of Overland Park, KS, and a sister-in-law, Margene Petraitis (Bill), Plant City, FL, Aunt Bertha Moore, and nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., on Thursday, June 26th, at McGilley State Line Chapel, 12301 State Line Road, Kansas City, MO., where the Rosary will be prayed at 5:00. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, June 27th. 10:00 a.m., at Ascension Catholic Church, 9510 W. 127th St., Overland Park, KS., with burial following at Mt. Moriah Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 11300 W. 103rd St., Overland Park, KS, 66214.
