Myrtle Palmer Obituary

Myrtle Palmer, 92, a lifelong resident of Topeka, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 4, 2010, at her daughters home in Delta Junction, Alaska surrounded by her family. She was born July 22, 1917 in Wrigley, Kentucky, the daughter of William J. and Maude Hobbs. She moved to Kansas in 1927 where she was a resident of the Dover and Topeka areas. Myrtle married Robert Palmer June 7, 1945. He preceded her in death December 1985. Myrtle Palmer worked many years for the State of Kansas as a cook for the Boys Industrial School. She loved to cook and gardening was her passion. Myrtle was a member of the Union School Club for over 50 years. Survivors include her sister, Elsie (Roger) Pontillo of Denver, CO, brother, Don Kennedy of Topeka, children, Darlene Allen of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Bonnie (Rick) Stillie of Delta Junction, Alaska, and Bert Palmer of Topeka. Survivors also include 9 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her brother, Robert Bob Kennedy and grandson, Zack Palmer. A graveside service will be at 1 p.m., Saturday, July 10, 2010 at the Silver Lake Cemetery in Silver Lake, KS. The family will receive friends following the graveside service at the Penwell-Gabel Family Center, 1940 NW Central Ave., Topeka. I remember stories about Myrtle buying her new car and it always brings a smile to my face. She was a very special lady. Sincere sympathy to all.
