Robert Tibbits Obituary

Robert L. Tibbits, 76, formerly of Topeka, died Monday, February 25, 2013 in Evanston, WY. He was born October 7, 1936 in Topeka, the son of Wallace and Jeanette (Engles) Tibbits. Robert was a Reservist for the US Army and was stationed in Ft. Leonardwood. He was a Carmen for AT & SF Railroad which later became BNSF after 40 years of service. Robert enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, woodworking, gardening, and enjoyed traveling. He was a devoted husband and his family was always first and foremost in his life. He married Janet Paxson on August 24, 1956 in Topeka, KS. They celebrated 42 years of marriage before her death on November 9, 1998. He is survived by three daughters, Debi Greiner of Evanston, WY, Sherri (Ron) Hochard and DeAnn Tibbits all of Topeka, four grandchildren, Teal Greiner, Shandi (John) Ragsdale, Sharla (Justin) Cochrane, and Samantha Hochard, and two great grandchildren, Austin and Caden Cochrane. Robert will lie in state at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home on Monday from 9:00 until 10:30 a.m. where the family will receive friends. Service will be at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the American Lung Association, and sent in care of Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, 800 SW 6th Ave., Topeka, Kansas 66603.
