Jack Oglesby Obituary

Jack Lowell Oglesby Jack Lowell Oglesby, 80, Lecompton, died Friday, April 25, 2014 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. He was born September 9, 1933 at North Kansas City, MO., the son of Alva Gordon and Athel Hawkins Oglesby. He worked as a Superintendent of Construction, working over 20 years for May-Ransom and Sheetz Company of Topeka and more than 20 years for the Lawrence Ready Mix Company. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War serving from 1950 to 1953. He was a member of the Community Revival Center Church in Ottawa, KS, and a member of Perry American Legion Post #142. He was married to Barbara Eyvonne Coker on October 5, 1954 at Cedar City, MO, she survives at the home in Lecompton. Survivors include, two sons, Jack L. Oglesby, II, Lecompton, Richard (Susan) Oglesby, Ottawa, one daughter, Sandra ( Fred) Gantz, Lecompton, one brother, Reverend Afton (Marlene) Oglesby, Ottawa, and a brother-in-law, Tom Parr, Claycomo, MO., nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother, Keith Oglesby, and two sisters, Alma Jean Burke, and Jewell Parr. Grave Side Services will be at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, at Maple Grove Cemetery, Lecompton. A Celebration of Life Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Monday at the Perry American Legion Building. Memorials are suggested to Lecompton United Methodist Church food pantry or to the American Legion Post #142 Building and Maintenance fund in care of Barnett Family Funeral Home, P.O.
