Calvin Rafferty Obituary

Calvin Patrick Rafferty Calvin Patrick Rafferty, 92, Topeka, passed away February 20, 2017, at Aldersgate Village. Calvin was born July 31, 1924, in Topeka, Kansas, one of seven children of Vincent and Helen Brock Rafferty. Calvin graduated from Dover High School in 1942, and attended Washburn University. Calvin served in the United States Navy as a Seaman First Class. Calvin married Virginia C. Morrison in Yates Center, Kansas. Calvin retired from his mail carrier position in 1978. After retirement, Calvin worked for the Menninger Foundation doing medication delivery and the shuttle bus. Calvin is survived by his brother, Don Rafferty of Long Mount, Colorado; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Rafferty; children, Patrick and Mark Rafferty; parents, Vincent and Helen Rafferty; siblings, Byron Rafferty, Darlene Schreiner, Gerald Rafferty, Harold Rafferty, and Jimmy Rafferty. Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated 10 a.m. Friday, February 24, 2017, at Christ the King Catholic Church, 5973 SW 25th Street, Topeka KS 66614. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice or Christ the King Catholic Church, sent in care of Kevin Brennan Family Funeral Home, 2801 SW Urish Road, Topeka KS 66614.
