Harry Anderson Obituary

Funeral services for Harry Eugene Anderson, 89, who died Wednesday July 22, 2009, at the Wisteria Gardens Nursing Home in Pearl, MS will be 2:30 pm, Saturday July 25, 2009, from Fayette Baptist Church in Fayette, Ms. with the Rev. Albert Parsons and Rev. Michael Assink officiating. Burial will be in the Shelton Cemetery in Copiah County, MS under the direction of Spencer Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 1 pm to 2 pm Saturday at the Church.
Harry was born August 26, 1919, in Jefferson County, MS, the son of the late William Daniel Anderson and Martha Susan Shelton.
He is preceded in death by his parents; step-father, C. E. Garrett; and his brother, Will T. Anderson.
He was in the CCC for two years at Meadville, MS, and Oregon. He then served in the 1st Battalion 155th Infantry of the U.S. Army for three years during World War II as a sergeant and Ham Radio Operator. Stationed on the Philippine Islands, he fought in the battles of Hew Guinea, Morotai and Mindanao.
Harry was employed by the Mississippi Forestry Commission for 27 years as Dispatcher at the Jefferson County Fire tower.
He is survived by his wife of fifty years, Ann Marie Anderson of Fayette, MS; two daughters, Edith Wilson and husband, David of Camden, SC, Sheila Lester and husband, John of Canton, MS; three grandchildren, Sydney Bedells, Devin and Meagan Wilson; one brother, Scott Anderson and his family; one sister, Carolyn Cos and her family; and the Will T. Anderson family.
Harry enjoyed gardening, bee-keeping and was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather. He will be dearly missed by all of his family.
