To the Tedder family,
My deepest sympathy. I will keep him and your family in my prayers.
Hugh was my "big brother" in the fraternity at Millsaps college and taught me how to balance my checkbook. He was a very caring person and helped me my freshman year in my adjustment to college.
He will be missed.

I am still numb from the news of Hugh's passing. He added so much fun to so many people. I remember meeting Hugh as a freshman at a KA rush party. As an older Millsaps Alum, I was priviledged to watch that group graduate and become men. I am blessed to have known Hugh. I will miss all the stories we shared. Laura, bless you and the girls. May God's love comfort and guide you.

It was hard to believe when I heard about Hugh's illness and subsequent death. He was a very young lawyer practicing in Hinds County Court when I was the Court Administrator there for 25 years, and I enjoyed working with him especially because of his humor. He always made me laugh! I even remember when his children were born. I knew him to be honest and trustworthy which is praise in itself these days. I pray his family knows how special he was to so many of us, and that God will grant them peace.

Laura
I was shocked & saddened to learn of Hugh's untimely passing. Hugh was one of the instructors at a criminal defense seminar in Jackson I was attending last year.Hugh saw me first, slapped me on the back, shook my hand and with his usual big ole grin asked how I was doing! We discussed work of course and family news. Hugh's smile got even bigger as he talked about you and the girls. I enjoyed catching up with Hugh and I am sorry I won't see that big grin for awhile. Laura, my deepest sympathy, condolences, and prayers to you and your daughters on the loss of a beloved husband and Daddy. May God bless all of you.

Laura, girls and family. My thoughts and prayers are with you all during this difficult time. I will remember Hugh as "Mr. Weekend", always with a smile and ready for a party. And that safari hat! He will be missed.

I will remember Hugh as a fun loving fraternity brother who had a great love for life and enjoyed people.
Years after college days, when we might run into one another, it was as if only a day had gone by. We would laugh, tell the same stories we had told a million times, catch up and wish each other well until our next encounter.
I am holding all of you in my thoughts and prayers.
Peace to you this day,
Robert G. Nichols+

Hugh was a good friend throughout my years at Millsaps and beyond. I am saddened that our world is short of a good soul who shared so much laughter with those around him. Hugh was so much of my college experience and those experiences were great and were filled with laughter and joy and much of that is due to Hugh. As I reflect, there is no doubt that Hugh gave us all much to enjoy. I know that he deeply loved his family and for you, I extend my prayers and sympathy. I have no doubt that your loss is great but try to be thankful for the wonderful man that shared himself with you. Hugh was a good man.

Laura, we were saddened to learn this date of your loss and that of your girls, Camille and Susannah. We remember y'all back in the days of Little Acorns Daycare and being young lawyers practicing in Downtown Jackson. Hugh was one of the wittiest and downright funniest people I've known, not to mention being a lawyer with a real sense of humor. I always enjoyed working on cases with Hugh and you could bet it was never boring. He often attended the Barrister's CLE Seminars in Jackson and did well not to fall asleep during my lectures, at least not so as I would notice. The law profession has really lost a classic in Hugh and he will be sorely missed. May other litigators find a way to make us laugh.
Take care and God Bless, Keith, Alaine and Baylor Obert

Like so many others, I knew Hugh at Millsaps and was grieved to learn of his death.
I pray that God, Our Father, will surround you with His peace which passes all understanding, that His beloved Son, Christ Jesus, will sustain you with His grace and mercy; and that the Holy Spirit will strengthen you with love and light.
I also pray that precious memories will comfort you in the days to come and that you'll remember Hugh lives on in the hearts of everyone who loved him!
My deepest sympathy, Cherlyn Hunt Bethel

Laura:
I've been praying for your family through this process. Hugh was a good friend and fraternity brother at Millsaps and will be missed by that family as well. As Christ said in John 14:27, "I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid." Take comfort from this and be assured the Lord will help you and your girls through this.

I woke to a sadder world this morning. Hearing of Hugh’s death makes us all stop and consider so many things. Hugh was a college friend of mine and when I think back on what he meant to those of us who knew him, I think only of fun. He often told of his philosophy of why Natchez didn’t burn in the Civil War like Vicksburg and so many other towns – Natchez folks simple invited those Yankees in for a party. Hugh embraced that philosophy during college – let’s have fun. He was always ready with a laugh or a joke. He was able to have fun but he knew that life was more than fun. When I met Hugh he knew he wanted to be a lawyer and he set his course and never wavered. He studied hard and was a good student. I think the laughter was a way to take the seriousness out of a life with determination.
Family was important to Hugh. He took many of us home to Natchez for pilgrimages and parties and shared his family with us. We knew he would become a great family man one day, and he did. It is to his family that my heart hurts for this day. May God grant His guidance and show His mercies and blessings in the days and years ahead as they learn to live with only the memories of a wonderful man.

Hugh was the kindest sweetest man I came across in Jackson. He was always friendly towards me and treated me with respect. He was *the* bright light at Broadmeadow United Methodist Church. His presence will be missed by family and friends, I am sure.

To the Tedder Family:
Hugh is one of the people I remember from my childhood in Natchez. I remember him as a fun-loving, mischievous kid who was also very kind.
Through Facebook, I got to see a little bit of him as a man. I could still see that kid who loved to have a bit of fun, but what was most evident was how much he loved his family.
I wish we had crossed paths again as adults. I would have loved to see him, especially surrounded by the family he loved so much.
My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
