James Campbell Obituary

James Boyd Campbell, Jr. died on Saturday, June 6, 2009, at his home after a courageous 11 month battle with lung cancer.
"Jimmy" was born on September 25, 1956, in Jackson, Mississippi. He was the first of four children born to James Boyd Campbell and Martha Harris Campbell. Jimmy was a lifelong resident of Jackson and a 1974 graduate of Jackson Preparatory School. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Millsaps College in 1995. He was a lifelong member of Galloway Memorial United Methodist Church.
An avid musician, Jimmy was also an accomplished artist whose work was shown in numerous Jackson area galleries. He especially enjoyed sharing his love of art with his friends.
Jimmy was predeceased by his parents, Jim and Martha Campbell.
He is survived by his brothers, Joseph William Campbell and Alexander Boyd Campbell, II and by a sister, Martha Campbell Cooke and her husband Jay. He is also survived by his nephews, Jack W. Cooke, III and James Campbell Cooke and by his niece, Laura Collins Cooke.
Visitation will be on Thursday, June 11, 2009, at 10 am in the church parlor at Galloway Memorial United Methodist Church with services to follow at 11 am in the church chapel. Interment will be in the Galloway columbarium in the main sanctuary. The Revs. Connie and Joey Shelton will preside.
The family is very appreciative of the care given to Jimmy by Sta-Home Health and Hospice.
Memorials may be made to Galloway Church (P. O. Box 1092 Jackson, MS 39215) or Stewpot Ministries (1100 W. Capitol Street, Jackson, MS 39203).

Condolences to all...I was a high school friend of Jimmy. He was always interested in drawing, and I'm not surprised to find out he became an accomplished artist. I would love to see some of work.
