Funeral services will be held Thursday,10-30-14,11:00 am at New Hebron Baptist Church. Visitation will be Wednesday, 10-29-14, 5:30 pm at Saulters Moore Funeral Home in Prentiss. Saulters Moore Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
Darrell was born February 21, 1961 to Clifton Chavis and Frances Vanlandingham Chavis in Arkansas. He worked as a field customer service engineer for Bell & Howell for 28 years. He was with the Volunteer Fire dept. in New Hebron and a deputy for Lawrence Co. Sheriff and New Hebron Police departments. He was a graduate of Southern Technical College. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in New Hebron and New Hebron Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Vicki Chavis of New Hebron. His son, Brandon Chavis of Monticello. His mother, Frances Chavis of New Hebron. Three brothers, Rev. Larry Chavis of Mendenhall, Ronnie Chavis of New Hebron and Mark Chavis of McKinney, TX.
