Glen Eckart Obituary
Glen Eckart, 57, passed away Friday, July 8, 2016 after a 14 month battle with cancer. He was born January 13, 1959, son of Lois (Boss) and the late Harold Eckart, and grew up in Richfield, Ohio. He was a graduate of Revere High School, 1977; Bachelor of Science - Physics -Stevens Institute of Technology, 1981; Master of Science - Electrical Engineering - Stanford University, 1982; MBA - University of Utah, 1994. Glen was an electrical engineer, doing integrated circuit chip design for Evans & Sutherland, Hewlett-Packard, LSI, and Avago/Broadcom. He was a valued colleague, able to solve the hardest design problems with his unique blend of logic and creativity. Glen is survived by wife, Piper Aune; children, Kelly Eckart, Katherine Daniels, Ian Eckart, and Ed Shubert; mother, Lois Eckart; siblings, Brian (Karen), Ralph (Julia), Ellen (Ray) Hesketh, Esther (Ken) Post; nieces and nephews Michael (Katie), Aaron, Isaac, Caleb, Seth, Susie, and Micah. Glen was a multi-talented lifelong learner who could fix anything and do it cheerfully! He was always willing to share his curiosity and love of learning as a father and a mentor, teaching and guiding those around him with quiet patience and compassion. When he laughed, he laughed with his whole heart, and his gentle smile and nurturing gaze never failed to lift the spirits of those around him. He loved the out of doors and any adventures he could find, including hiking, camping, rock climbing, skiing, swimming in the ocean, and cycling. Whether it be tango, contra, waltz, or swing, he was a marvelous and gentle dance partner, and travel adventures allowed him to combine his passions for history and photography. Despite Glen's long, hard battle with cancer, he never lost his sense of humor, his kindness and his generosity.A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
