Mrs. Guess, Carol and Donnie,
Though it has been many years since I have had the pleasure to see and speak with you, please allow me to send my deepest sympathy to all of you. Mr. Guess was a fabulous father, husband and role model to so many of us who were touch by the love and friendship that was always offered while at your home on Capen. I can only imagine the enormous void that will now exist in some many people's lives. Don's warm smile and genuine generosity will never be duplicated. I am sincere when I say he was a great mentor to me and I am blessed to have known him.

I am so sorry for the Guess Family's great loss. I remember Mr. and Mrs. Guess so fondly at every Briarcrest Band event there was. They never missed any event. I'm sure Mr. Don will continue to not miss anything watching from heaven. Love to Donnie and all his family!! Mariann Tait Barksdale.

Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of the saints.

"Life is short, this thought too. Things don't matter, but footprints do. To die is gain, life's quickly o'er. Eternity waits my spirit soars.

May the marks we leave lead somewhere and those we love know of our care. They'll serve below and I'll serve above until we meet the One who left us a trail for our feet."

Margaret and family,
I am so sorry for your loss, but know that your faith and love of Don will sustain you during this sad time. You are in my thoughts and prayers. I always think back to Buntyn Street Baptist Church back in the late 50's, early 60's when you and Don were the "older" teen group but always included us "younger" ones in the after church activities and at Mama Guess's house. Thank you for those memories.
