James Herbers Obituary
Memphis, TN
James Louis Herbers, 50, was called home to be with the Lord, October 15th, 2016. He suffered a cardiac arrest at his home. He is survived by his wife Amy and his beloved daughters Ashley and Erin. He also leaves his mother Helen, his sister Lee Ann (Jerry), his brothers Bruce (Debbie), Alan, twin David, his dad Jack and MANY COUSINS! James was a man who PASSIONATELY loved his family, and was happy to talk about them at great length. He loved Cardinals baseball, the city of Memphis, his friends and Phi Delta Theta fraternity brothers, and to play golf and cards with his cousins. Lastly, the Tennessee Volunteers lost one of their biggest fans, even though they may have contributed to the cardiac arrest!
The celebration of his life (orange and other bright color clothing is encouraged) will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Friday, October 21st with the visitation at 9:30 a.m. , Funeral Celebration at 10:30 a.m. and reception at 11:30 a.m.. The burial will be at 1:30 p.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Many have asked about a support fund for the children, and for those interested you may donate at any SunTrust to the James L. Herbers Memorial Fund.

I worked with James at Schlage for a number of years. He was truly one of the good guys and will be greatly missed. I just found out about his passing and sent several emails out to many of his former colleagues from Schlage. Everyone is just shocked to hear the news...he was so well liked by all of us and his customers. I know how much he loved his family...we spoke about it often. We will continue to pray for Amy and the girls.

James and I had many memories together in college. We were Fraternity brothers and were the same age. We road tripped it together to New Orleans for the 85" Sugar Bowl. Plus many more memories, too many to list. Unfortunately, I had not seen James in a long time, but will never forget the great times we had in college. Prayers to his family

James was a gentleman and a genuinely good guy who enjoyed a lifelong ability to be instantly likeable. A true Vol fan, I'm sure he's enjoying the fact that he may indeed have the best obituary ever written. Our thoughts and prayers are with Amy and the family.

James was part of the Sunday golf game at Wedgewood and could hit his tee shots a LONG way. His easy going demeanor and kind spirit made him a joy to be around. James will be greatly missed.

Amy, I'm so sorry to hear of James passing. I had seen him a few weeks ago in Lowe's and he was his normal "nice guy" telling me I needed to come join him and the boys for golf on Sundays. He will be missed. He was one of the good guys.

All of us here at Murdock in WIchita will miss James tremendously. He had come down to give us training a couple of times and participated in our July golf tournament. He was a wonderful man and we enjoyed our time with him.
