If roses grow in heaven, Lord please pick a bunch for me, place them in my mother's arms and tell her they're from me. Please tell her that I love her and miss her, and when she turns to smile, place a kiss upon her cheek and hold her for awhile, because remembering her is easy, I do it every day, but there's an ache within my heart that will never go away...RIP Mama. I love you Mama ..gone but never forgotten!!!

In our house we had a MAMA
who made miracles.

She did things in the kitchen
no one fully understood.

She made the money stretch somehow,
with prayer and perseverance.

Our lives were filled with love...
and we knew that it was good.

I want to thank you mama,
for the love you gave,
the faith you shared,
and the miracles you performed
that made life so good
for our family.

Happy Mother's Day

Ok. Mama had several poems that she really loved. Here's one.

House by the Side of the Road

Samual Walter Foss
public domain 1899

THERE are hermit souls that live withdrawn
In the place of their self-content;
There are souls like stars, that dwell apart,
In a fellowless firmament;
There are pioneer souls that blaze the paths
Where highways never ran-
But let me live by the side of the road
And be a friend to man.

Let me live in a house by the side of the road
Where the race of men go by-
The men who are good and the men who are bad,
As good and as bad as I.
I would not sit in the scorner's seat
Nor hurl the cynic's ban-
Let me live in a house by the side of the road
And be a friend to man.

I see from my house by the side of the road
By the side of the highway of life,
The men who press with the ardor of hope,
The men who are faint with the strife,
But I turn not away from their smiles and tears,
Both parts of an infinite plan-
Let me live in a house by the side of the road
And be a friend to man.

I know there are brook-gladdened meadows ahead,
And mountains of wearisome height;
That the road passes on through the long afternoon
And stretches away to the night.
And still I rejoice when the travelers rejoice
And weep with the strangers that moan,
Nor live in my house by the side of the road
Like a man who dwells alone.

Let me live in my house by the side of the road,
Where the race of men go by-
They are good, they are bad, they are weak, they are strong,
Wise, foolish - so am I.
Then why should I sit in the scorner's seat,
Or hurl the cynic's ban?
Let me live in my house by the side of the road
And be a friend to man.

I thank God for a praying mother.

I don't think I told you enough, how much I loved and appreciated you. Your life wasn't easy and you endured many storms. When times were tough and you felt like giving up, you always prayed and God made it better. I have learned so much from you. I learned to hold my head up and trust God in the midst of any storm and He will guide me through it. I want to thank you for all you have ever done for me.

My mother was an awesome woman of God, strong, loving, caring and understanding. Mama was so talented, and to her, nothing was impossible. Mama always said " where there's a will, there's a way". Mama's favorite poem went like this, "When things go wrong as they sometimes will, when the road you're trudging seems all up hill, when life is beating you down a bit, rest if you must, but don't you quit". She is my hero and I'm so proud to have had her in my life.

Happy Mother's Day Mama and thanks for everything.

To Grandmother With Love

I had an angel here beside me, Sent to Earth to help and guide me,
An angel always there for me
Sent to love and care for me.
She did the things that angels should:
She taught me what was bad and good,
She gave me hope when no one cared,
She held my hand when I was scared,
She cheered me up when I was down
(She could make a smile from a frown),
She doctored me when I was sick,
And many another angel tricks.
Today my angel earned her wings, Her halo, harp and other things. But today I'm lost and all alone For today God called my angel home.
(Author Unknown)

Granny,
There are so many words to expression how I feel about you. You have been my shoulder to cry on and my motivation that I needed to pull me through some of the worst situations. When you first went on the that better place, I could not figure out how I would go on with out you. As the days passed it got easier because I realized that I never will be without you, you will always be with me like you have always been. Regardless of when I was in Nashville and you were in Munford, I always could speak to you like we were sitting in the same room. Now as I sit and type this I know you are sittng with granddaddy and yall are telling me to be strong and don't cry because of course you built us strong. Granny, I will take all the memories, advice, and wisdom and hold everything close to my heart. I love you and will miss you!!

Love your Granddaughter,
Natalia

For my family,
As we celebrate our mother going to a better place, I felt this poem would help us to get through because Granny would want us to remember her just like she was in the next room:

In The Next Room

Death is nothing at all:
I have only slipped away into the next room.
I am I and you are you;
Whatever we were to each other, that we are still.
Call me by my old familiar name.
Speak to me in the easy way which you always used to.
Put no difference in your tone:
Wear no forced air or solemnity or sorrow.
Laugh as we always laughed at the
little jokes we enjoyed together.
Play, smile, think of me, pray for me.
Why should I be out of mind
because I am out of sight?
I am but waiting for you, for an interval,
somewhere very near,
Just around the corner. All is well.

To the Buford Family and extended Families:

Please know that our prayers are with you through this time of sorrow in the going home of Mrs. Savannah Buford. But also we alaso want you to take cheer in the pleasure of knowing that Ms. Savannah Buford, a mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to all who crossed her path is with God Almighty, Maker of Heaven and Earth. You know that the Bible teaches us that "to be absent from the body is one with the Lord." Therefore Mrs. Buford is not gone but only raised to higher grounds of God's promise for us to have ever lasting life. We can have that same life only if we make the right decisions in life as I believe that Mrs. Buford made during her life.

So to the children, when you are still (peace be still) and a smell of someone baking cakes and pies that is not just a smell of baking but distinctive in nature that could only be of your mother, know then, she is with you. At night when you are surprising warm when others around you are cold, know that she is with you. And when you are sad or happy, tell her, talke to her so that she can comfort you and celebrate with you. Talk to her because she is not gone. She is with you always. I know. Trust me I know.

Sent with Love and Continuous Prayers from Vivian Michael-Wilhoite

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.
