Jean Tasker Obituary

BOW - Jean (Waters) Tasker of Bow, passed away peacefully Thursday, June 28, 2012. She was born in Solihull a small town outside Birmingham, England May 9, 1921 the daughter of the late Howard and Bertha Waters.

Jean lived there until she was 19 when she enlisted in the British Army during the Battle of Britain. In 1942, she shipped out to North Africa as part of the communications group in the Army Signal Corps as a corporal. While there she married her husband George on March 2, 1945 in Cairo, Egypt where he was serving in the Army Medical Service. Jean came home to the United States starting the next stage of her life in Massachusetts where they lived in Boston and Braintree for 49 years. Jean worked for Sears in Boston and later with Grass Instrument Company in Quincy before retiring and moving to Bow. They were blessed with 67 years of good life together. She was an active member of the Trinity Episcopal Church in Weymouth, Mass. and more recently volunteered her time with the NH Audubon Society working on the Bird Surveys held each year. She loved taking trips to visit family and friends in England and hanging out with George on fishing trips to the wilds of northern Maine. She was an avid reader and cook and loved her cat Sammy.

She is predeceased by a sister, Kay Durk and her husband Roy of Dorset England.

Jean is survived by her loving husband George Tasker of Bow; a sister Rita Coomer and her husband Bill of Dorset, England; her son Bruce and his wife Suzanne; three grandchildren: Jonathan Tasker and his wife Karen of Kittery Maine, Kerri (Tasker) Glover and her husband Charles Glover of Penacook, and Seth Tasker and his wife Emily of Brighton, Mass; two great grandchildren Sophie and Colby; sister-in-laws Mary Tasker of Maine and Shirley Tasker of New York; as well as many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service and burial will be held Tuesday, July 3, at 11 a.m. in the Chapel at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen.

Arrangements are being handled by The Waters Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers please consider a memorial donation to the NH Audubon Society, 84 Silk Farm Road, Concord NH 03301.
