John Victor Shayeb Jr.

1939 - 2014

LACONIA – John Victor Shayeb Jr., 75, of Estates Circle, Laconia, passed away Thursday, Oct. 23, 2014, at Genesis Health Care Center after a long illness.

Victor was born July 23, 1939, in Winthrop, Mass., the son of John Victor Shayeb Sr. and Barbara (Harding) Shayeb of Revere, Mass. Victor served in the U.S. Air Force. He resided in Revere, Long Meadow and Springfield, Mass., Warner and Bow, and, Lutz, Fla. before moving to Laconia. He studied marketing at Babson Institute and Suffolk University and worked for Mass Mutual of Springfield, Mass. and Canada Life, formerly Crown Life Insurance, in Concord. Victor was a Call Fireman with various towns around New England and retired as Call Lieutenant from Bow Fire Department. Victor enjoyed listening to his fire scanner, reading and his dog, Lady.

Survivors include his companion of many years, Michelle F. McCarthy, of Laconia; his son, John Victor Shayeb III, and his wife, Anita L. Suhanin, of Medford, Mass.; and many friends.

Victor was predeceased by his wife, Cathleen M. (Hickey) Shayeb, of Laconia.

Memorial calling hours will be held Saturday, Nov. 1, from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. at the Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant St., Laconia, using the Carriage House entrance.
