Resident of Concord
Vera Imogene Self entered peacefully into rest in Concord on February 1, 2013. She was 81 years of age. Born in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas on February 14, 1931, Vera had been a loving homemaker for most of her life. She was so proud of her children and grandchildren and was always supportive of their activities. She took great pleasure in travelling, cooking for her loved ones but will truly be remembered for her loving and giving spirit. She will truly be missed. Vera is survived by her loving children, Ron Self of Concord, and Paula Siebold of Pittsburg. She will always be remembered by her beloved grandchildren, Bethany Lujan, Paul Self, Derek Siebold and Rebecca Self along with great grandchildren, Parker Lujan and Ayla Lujan. She will truly be missed by her brother Jack Barnhill, as well as many extended family and friends. Vera was preceded in death by husband of 59 years, Jack Self, along with her siblings, Ruth Harbor, Thelma Brinkman, Allen Barnhill, and John Thomas Barnhill. A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at 10:00 AM at Union Cemetery, 11545 Brentwood Blvd., Brentwood, CA where she will be laid to rest with her husband. A Celebration of Life will follow at Noon on Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at Calvary Baptist Church, 2140 Olivera Court, Concord, CA. A reception will immediately follow the service.

Dear Ron, My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this tender time. You and Connie are some of the finest folks I have had the pleasure of knowing and now I know why.... your mom was from Arkansas......My grandparents are from Little Rock - you see.
